1. Health
Health can be defined as physical, mental, and social wellbeing, and as a resource for
living a full life. It refers not only to the absence of disease, but the ability to recover and bounce
back from illness and other problems. Factors for good health include genetics, the environment,
relationships, and education.

2. Components of Health
Almost all aspects of health rely on a person’s wellness and in order to lead a healthy life you
should always follow these essential components. The World Health Organization, along with
the help of other leaders in the medical community, continues to work towards educating people,
which allows them to strive and embrace healthier life changes. Medical professionals such as
WHO agree that embracing the 6 components of health will allow patients to lead more
complete lives.
 Physical Health is probably the most important aspects of health. Whether it’s
running, swimming, walking, dancing, or playing basketball, every movement you
make strengthens your muscles. Being active will benefit you both physically and
mentally, which will also more than likely add years to your life. Studies have proven
that maintaining regular physical health improves your mood and reduces anxiety and
depression.
 Social Health relates to interacting and communicating with others. Studies have
shown that loneliness and isolation often lead to depression, social anxieties, and
mental health issues. A study conducted by Brigham Young University shows that
obesity is just as deadly as social isolation. A person with a healthier social life has
been proven to live longer lives, which also reduces your risk of stroke, strengthens
your immune system, and reduces your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. In
order to maintain good social wellness, you should try to avoid negative people and
learn how to handle problems without having to yell or use violence.
 Cognitive Health refers to the brain and its ability to perform. Cognitive functions
include learning a new language, judgment, and memory. There is a plethora of
different ways to improve your cognitive health, including watching TV, reading,
crossword puzzles, playing a card game, or by simply maintaining regular social
interactions.
 Emotional Health remains one of the most important aspects of health, yet it is
constantly overlooked. Emotional health is often defined as a person who possesses
the ability to not only recognize reality, but also cope with the demands of daily life.
As we grow from teenagers to adults, we learn how to face life’s problems and better
process grief.
 Cultural Health where the culture we live in constantly influences our health and
wellness. Cultural health often refers to a specific demographic, which gives
everyone the opportunity to lead healthier lifestyles. Your environment and culture
continuously influence your life. In order to maintain good cultural health, you should
surround yourself with healthy living and work environment.
 Spiritual Health can provide you the extra push needed to make it through a long
day at work. In order to have a healthy mind and body, you should also embrace a
heather spiritual lifestyle. A person’s spirituality can also help them deal with tough
situations in life, including rejection, death, or overcoming financial hardships while
providing a person a spiritual direction, which help them maintain more harmonious
relationships.

3. Physical activity and exercise for health and fitness

Physical activity is any form of exercise or movement of the body that uses energy. In
other words, any movement one does is actually physical activity.  Some of your daily life
activities such as doing active chores around the house, yard work, walking the dog.

Exercise is a structured program, planned, repetitive and intentional activity geared

toward achieving, improving or maintaining physical fitness and is a subcategory of physical
activity that improves Cardiorespiratory fitness, Muscular strength fitness, Muscular endurance
fitness, Flexibility fitness and Body composition. Examples include brisk walking, interval
training, squats, lunges, push-ups, abdominal crunches, bent-over row, jogging, swimming,
biking, lifting weights and using a resistance band.

4. Body movement
For any object, a change in the position is termed as a movement. In our human body, it
takes place when there is any motion of a particular or a combination of body parts. In addition,
we can term locomotion as the movement which results in the change of position of the whole
organism.
There are seven basic movements the human body can perform and all other exercises
are merely variations of these seven:  Pull, Push, Squat, Lunge, Hinge, Rotation and Gait. When
performing all of these movements, you will be able to stimulate all of the major muscle groups
in your body.
5. Sedentary living
A sedentary living is a type of lifestyle involving little or no physical activity. A
person living a sedentary lifestyle is often sitting or lying down while engaged in an activity like
reading, socializing, watching television, playing video games, or using a mobile
phone/computer for much of the day. Recent research is starting to confirm the health risks
associated with a sedentary lifestyle and appear to be increasingly widespread in many nations
despite being linked to a range of chronic health conditions like obesity, diabetes, and some
types of cancer.
6. Health and Nutrition

Food choices each day affect our health — how you feel today, tomorrow, and in the
future. Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with
physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk
of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer, and promote your overall health.

Even for people at a healthy weight, a poor diet is associated with major health risks that
can cause illness and even death. These include heart disease, hypertension (high blood
pressure), type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer. By making smart food
choices, you can help protect yourself from these health problems. The risk factors for adult
chronic diseases, like hypertension and type 2 diabetes, are increasingly seen in younger ages,
often a result of unhealthy eating habits and increased weight gain. Dietary habits established in
childhood often carry into adulthood, so teaching children how to eat healthy at a young age will
help them stay healthy throughout their life.

The link between good nutrition and healthy weight, reduced chronic disease risk, and
overall health is too important to ignore. By taking steps to eat healthy, you'll be on your way to
getting the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy, active, and strong.
