Self-reflection using Gibbs Reflective Cycle
Introduction

To perform a practical marketing analysis on Tesla, I have done the marketing mix and use some of the

business strategies. At the time of research analysis, I come across lots of challenges. During research

analysis, the main objective is to collect the relevant data and then apply them to the marketing research.

But, data evaluation was too harsh for me as the data were not accurate. Sometimes, I have applied the

analytical data to evaluate Tesla's marketing strategies. However, I have identified the critical sections for

further analysis. Here, I am going to focus on those sides and try to improve this project with Gibb’s

reflection model.

The problem faced by me

At the time of planning the strategic marketing analysis, PESTLE, and SWOT analysis, both the theories

need to be used. To determine the environmental impacts on Tesla, some of the economic factors were

missing, and then it was too difficult to measure the sustained development of that company. According to

Goulet, Larue, and Alderson, 2016, (pp. 139-150), the core competence analysis is essential to stay in the

recent market. But, I face troubles in finding its technological advancements.

Similarly, I encounter the same issue during Porter’s theoretical implementations. It was essential to collect

financial data to analyse organization marketing strategies accurately. In-depth analysis, the data on the

competitors is also essential when I suggested the marketing options for Tesla. Without a current marketing

analysis, it is impossible to identify the current situation of the company, and then, the analysis gap occurred

here (Pullman, 2018). However, I have introduced here the Gibbs reflective cycle for mitigating the problem

and analyse the marketing strategies.

Analysis of Gibbs reflective cycle

Gibbs’s reflective cycle is essential to identify the gaps and gain experience from the current situation of a

company. Graham Gibbs invented this business cycle model to enhance business strategies. Moreover, it

helps to take necessary actions to adjust the organization with the latest marketing trends. On the other hand,

it is useful to understand the current behaviour of competitive marketing analysis (Dhaliwal, Singh, and

Singh, 2017, 3(1)). Even, people can feel the current position of an individual business along with an

appropriate thesis. Here, I am going to discuss the Gibbs cycle and trying to evaluate the gap of the previous

project with the help of this marketing theory.

Part1: Description

It is the primary but one of the most crucial steps. It describes the situations and events that are currently

happened in an organization. It doesn’t provide a concluding note but follows the activities that people

associated with it do (Sekarwinahyu et al., 2019). Moreover, in this step, one can gather all the essential

information regarding marketing strategies.

In the case of my first assignment, I was not experienced with the company. That’s why I failed to use all

the data about the company with proper analysis. Even, I have no proper data about the company’s

employees and other activities that created my project gap. By this model, I get details from my collected

data. Moreover, get a brief idea about the company and its other sources.

Part 2: Feelings

This phase is required to know about the feelings of individuals that directly trigger the events currently

occurred in Tesla. We know that awareness is necessary to develop a successful project. Gibbs’s reflective

cycle is used for setting up the mind and think about the feeling during events (Chen, et al., 2020, 13(1)).

Even, it is also helpful to reset counselling after completing the activities. Furthermore, it creates a platform

to see the events and activities from outsider’s perspectives.

Here, I have also conducted the theory to revise the situation of the company that was not done before in this

project. Moreover, we have tried to think from unique perspectives that are important to improve business

strategies.

Part 3: Evaluation

This stage is very critical for analysing the marketing strategies gap. It determines whether the collected data

are perfect for bringing accurate results (Mitchell, 2017, 21(1)). Moreover, one can realize whether he/she

can conduct an appropriate evaluation or not.

In this assignment, these model cycles help me to filter out my decision, whether it is good or bad. Even, it

has ample usefulness to teach me about the contribution of successful marketing strategies.

Part 4: Analysis

This section is dependent on the above three phases, particularly on the project evaluation. One can usually

understand the strengths of individuals and the mistakes done by them (Hilliard, James and Batt, 2017).

Moreover, I get a golden scope to distinguish between positive things and drawbacks. Depend on those

sectors; I become confident in overcome the previous barrier effectively.

Part 5: Conclusion

In this section, Gibbs helps to gain a clear overall idea about the marketing strategy. Moreover, it also

identifies the skills that I need to develop during this analysis.

By applying this reflective cycle, I get assurance about the skills and knowledge that are required to handle

various kinds of activities. Moreover, I have faced problems in applying the marketing mix tactfully to my

previous assignment. Gibbs’s reflective cycle is an effective solution that encourages me to reach out to a

useful conclusion.

Final Part: Action Plan

The previous step is powerful to make a final decision on the marketing analysis, and this step is the

outcome of the previous phase. It determines the necessary actions that are necessary for evaluating the

upcoming project in a better way (Crehan, and Scott, 2020).

I also get a keen idea about my existing knowledge and about the skills that are necessary for my next

assignment. Though everything on the last project was fine, for further improvement, it plays a crucial role

for me.

Future improvement

By completing this project, I have gained lots of innovative ideas and know the unique problem-solving

methods. In the future, if I get another chance to evaluate this project again, then obviously, I will do a

schedule before starting the project. Next, perform an appropriate quantitative and qualitative research on it

and collect accurate data on the given assignment. After that, I will chalk out the plan as per the current

marketing strategies and try to collect the previous data of the mentioned company. As per Wall, 2018, I will

check the assignment by applying the Gibbs reflection model and take my own actions against its threats.

After that, I will test the marketing strategies with different theories and will pick the best one.

As a learner, I will recommend using the Pragmatic learning style, where the student gets the opportunity to

apply new ideas. Moreover, one can use the problem-solving method and other decision making theories to

get an instant solution. Even the students can prepare a good scoring project with a pool of right concept,

and the chances of the analysis gap get reduced.

Conclusion

Self-reflection using Gibbs Reflective Cycle
In this project, I have discussed the flaws that I did before in Assignment 1. Even, I locate those critical

areas with marketing analysis techniques. Even, I have tried to overcome the problems by applying Gibb’s

reflective model. Moreover, the reflective model implies the steps to improvise the project objective and

meet the assignment motto effectively (Farrell and Kennedy, 2019). From this assignment, I’ve have learned

how to enhance marketing strategies with the help of advanced theories. In the future, this assignment will

help me to take immediate action to perform a successful business in a competitive marketplace.
