1
GENERALITIES

The Atomizer is the main element of care in the Spray Plant, because it is a precision
equipment subjected to high revolutions and temperature. On the other hand, its high cost,
as well as the losses caused by detentions to make repairs, indicates that we must pay the
greatest attention and care to it.

This care consists of the following:

1) That the production and maintenance personnel keep in mind the above mentioned
concepts.

2) With the Atomizer and the planes in sight, you have a clear idea of its operation.

3) Do not hesitate to carefully stop and repair the atomizer when any anomaly is noticed,
despite the production constraints.

4) Be very careful when removed from your accommodation or placed in it, as well as in your
transfer; that does not suffer blows or pressures.

5) Practice a preventive maintenance policy every 2,000 hours of use, to avoid unforeseen
stops in the Atomizer.

DESCRIPTION

It is a vertical axis driven by a motor using

pulleys and belt.

This shaft is supported by two bearings in

the upper half, and the lower one, of
smaller diameter, is free; which allows it to
flex to absorb the vibratory charges that
occur in the atomizing disc.

In the lower part there is a guide bushing,

which only acts on start-up and stop, as the
shaft goes into vibration when certain
critical speeds pass.

2
LUBRICATION

From the upper tank the oil passes by gravity through a metering filter (1 drop
every 10-20 seconds), and falls on a bucket that nebulizes it, passing through
the bearing
upper and discharge holes, reaches the lower bowl and lower bearing in it
shape. From here it goes to the oil pump that returns it to the upper tank.
When the Atomizer is running; The pump returns the oil to the upper tank and
the circuit is repeated.

3
REFRIGERATION

It is achieved by passing air through a triple

air jacket.
The phenomenon is generated by the
suction that exists in the drying chamber.
In case of working with drying air
temperature, above 350ºC, more cooling air
can be forced through the ventilation tube
(54) with a blower.

TEMPERATURE CAUTION

The atomizer should always be running when the oven is on.

When the oven is running, it should not be more than 15 minutes without atomizing water or
product.
At the end of drying, stop the atomizer when the plant is cold (<50ºC approx.).

LUBRICATION CAUTION

It is of paramount importance and where daily attention should be concentrated mainly.

This is to see that the oil has oil up to 2 or 3 cm below the outlet of the return and ventilation
pipes of the Oil Tank, 20 minutes after the start and that it is in condition. Once underway,
daily, take a general look paying attention that there is oil return.

FILLING THE OIL DEPOSIT

Do not fill it with the atomizer stopped, because the oil is in the tank inf.
Do it after 20 minutes of commissioning.

OIL CHANGE

Start the Atomizer until all the oil passes to the Oiler and proceed to empty it by means of a
suction pump or by removing the screws and pouring the oil.
Clean the oil and fill it again.

OIL OPERATION VERIFICATION:

Once a month take out the Oil with oil, removing the screws and verify that the
oil drip works. (1 drop every 10-20 seconds), otherwise, change the wool wick.
It is advisable to change the oil every 180 days or 2000 hours of operation, or
if there is any contamination in it.

4
TURN

Anti-clockwise, counterclockwise, seen the atomizer from

above.

Be very CAREFUL, that for some change in the power lines the
atomizer does not turn upside down, as this could cause
unscrewing of the atomizer disk and others.

TURN SPEED CHANGE

With the pulleys of greater diameter, lower rotation speed and a thicker atomization of the
product are obtained, also reducing the consumption of electric current and the mechanical
wear of the same.

The low speed limit is given when the product arrives wet to the walls of the chamber.

To change the pulley, loosen the belt by loosening the motor nuts and tensioning bolts.
Change the pulley, taking into account to tighten the nuts very well when installing the new
pulley.
The special key that has two holes, where introducing the two screws, is used as pulley
puller.

The speeds available by changing the Pulley are:

7,000 RPM with Ø 80 mm Pulley

9,000 RPM with Ø 62 mm Pulley
11,000 RPM with Ø 51 mm Pulley

Once the pulley is in place, tighten the belt and fix the motor as described below.

5
BELT TENSION

Pressing your finger tightly on the belt between the pulleys, you should not flex more
than 5 mm. If there is no good tension in the belt, this skid and wears prematurely, the pulley
is heated by skating and the atomization is not good.

The stretching of the belt should be 1.8%, that is, marking 100 mm on the center of the
tensioned belt; when tensioning it must reach 101.8 mm.

LIGHT BETWEEN THE DISC and THE EXTERNAL HOUSING

It should be as small as possible provided that when working and dilating due to drying
temperatures, they do not rub. Virtually about 1 to 2 mm. Reaching up to 2.5 when working
with inlet temperatures of around 450 ° C.

This light should be minimal, because the Disc works as if it were a centrifugal pump and
absorbs air with dust that is deposited on it until it clogs it.

This is noticeable in the Atomizer ammeter with abrupt variations in electrical current, until it
increases considerably when the disc is braked.

To regulate this light, work with the three screws of the outer shell and the three height
registration screws. The task is done with the Disc placed and adjusted.

6
MAINTENANCE

To practice a policy of Preventive Maintenance every 2,000 Hs of use, to avoid unexpected

stops of operation, in the Atomizer.

DISASSEMBLY AND CLEANING THE DISK and LIQUID DISTRIBUTOR

Stop the atomizer, remove fixing nuts, lift the atomizer using the rig and place it in the holder.
Remove the nut and locknut (left thread).

Thread the extractor tool in the Disc Hub and drive until the assembly detaches from the Axis
cone.

Unscrew the Liquid Distributor (right thread). Check and clean the disk and the Liquid
Distributor, as well as the feed line and the Liquid Distributor Box of the atomizer.

Take care that the shaft and disc cones are perfectly clean before assembly.

To assemble proceed in reverse, adjusting the threads with light strokes on the adjustment
wrenches.

When assembling, it is convenient to put some oil, petroleum jelly or grease with Molycote
for cases of high drying temperatures or Butter for cases of food products, in the thread of
the liquid distributor, so that it does not engage when disassembled.

DISASSEMBLY OF THE ATOMIZER AND CHANGE OF BEARINGS

Proceed according to the disarmament plan following the numerical order and direction of
the arrows (SEE PLANE).

Take into account that the threads of the disc, the pulley and the oil pump are left.

When you have to hit a piece, use a plastic or brass hammer.

7
INSPECTION and CLEANING

All parts are carefully cleaned, blown, the adjustment of the bearings is checked, which in the
outer box. they must enter softly; If this is not the case, all hard points should be scraped.

In case it has taken a lot of play, it should be filled with hard chrome preferably, or with
stainless steel welding and rectified, or also with special synthetic sealants (Locktite), while
on the shaft, they should fit tighter (with soft strokes light hammer).

In case you have taken play on the shaft, fill with hard chrome and rectify it being careful with
the centering.

In case of mismatch between the axle cone and the disk mass, the axle cone and the disk
must be rectified, always as little as possible to prevent the disk from going deep inside.

If this happens, the most practical thing is to fill with stainless steel welding inside the cone of
the disk mass and turn it according to the axis cone. Each time a job is carried out on the
AXIS, or on the DISK, it MUST BE BALANCED DYNAMICALLY.

In the case of working with corrosive and / or abrasive products, the balancing should be
done periodically due to the wear and tear they produce on the disc.

GUIDE BUSHING

Normally it does not touch the shaft.

This guide bushing acts when vibrations appear on the shaft when starting and stopping,
damping them by means of the spring.

Periodically (once a month), it must be disassembled to clean and check the condition of the
antifriction coal and change it if necessary.

If premature wear is noticed, it is usually due to the unbalanced disk or the crooked shaft
(this is checked by turning it slowly, before placing the guide bushing). Proceed with
balancing the disk or replacing it with a new one, or straightening the shaft or replacing it with
a new one.

8
ASSEMBLY OF THE ATOMIZER

Proceed in reverse according to the disarmament plan.

Before starting, check that there are no frictions, turning it manually.

It is very important to check the oil return line, verify that there are no losses and that the
return is normal when starting.

TRANSFER

Whenever it is necessary to move or lower the atomizer, the disk and the liquid distributor
must be removed, and the shaft guard must be put in place. Be very careful in handling in
order to avoid bumps or accidents.
