prayer?
Good morning class.
Please take your seat.
Who are absent today?
(One student will lead the prayer.)
Good morning ma’am!
(The students will mention the

topic last meeting? topic “Basic Elements of a Poem”)

Now we will be discussing about the

poem “God Said, “I Made a Man” by
Jose Garcia Villa

Discussion of the short background

of the author.

 Motivation

Before we start let’s have our

vocabulary check.
The words will be found in the
literary text that we will be
discussing.

their meaning. Put the correct
meaning next to the word.

appreciating the gifts of the past

ingratitude?
Whatever the past has brought to
you, you must be thankful and
consider them as lessons which you
can bring with you until new
encounters come.
Let’s read the poem.

God said, “I Made Man”

by Jose Garcia Villa
(students will read after the
God said, “I made a man teacher)
Out of clay –
But so bright he, he spun
Himself to brightest Day
Till he was all shining gold,
And oh,
He was handsome to behold!
But in his hands held he a bow
Aimed at me who created
Him. And I said,
“Wouldn’t thou murder me
“Who am thy Fountainhead”
Then spoke he the man of gold:
‘I will not
Murder thee! I do but
Measure thee. Hold
Thy peace!’ And this I did,
But I was curious
Of this so regal head.
‘Give thy name!’ –Sir! Genius’

D. Application
Pick up a Question
Students will pick a question in the
fish bowl and answer it in front of
the class.
Expected Answers:
 The poem is all about showing
ingratitude toward God.
 Relationship of the past events
to the present is relevant in the
text for it clearly showed how
the men acted towards his
creator.
 It was shown in the text that
God is an understanding being.
 God did not accuse the man. He
gave the man a chance to
introduce himself and explain
where he is coming from.
 Things in the past are significant
to my current situation because
today is the result of yesterday.

Essay
1. What is the author trying to say to its readers in his poem “God Said, I Made
I Man"?
2. If you created something and your creation turns its back on you. How will
you react to this situation?
