Advance preparation

 For upgrading, you need a mini UIM card with docomo contract. Also, please upgrade the
version with full charge of the main unit's battery level (full charge). If the battery level is low, version
upgrade may fail.
 Please confirm the operation manual before upgrading, please back up the data beforehand.

When upgrading using "Wi-Fi"

For upgrading, you need a mini UIM card with docomo contract.

If you have a Wi-Fi environment

If you have a wireless LAN router please check the Wi - Fi connection setting

You do not have a Wi-Fi environment

You can upgrade the version by "docomo Wi - Fi" by executing the version up
method using a PC or by applying for "docomo Wi - Fi (sp mode)". For details of
"docomo Wi - Fi" please check "docomo Wi - Fi easy connection".

How to set Wi-Fi of Android TM smartphone / tablet, docomo Mobile


The available area can be checked from the area search site below. 
【From PC】 docomo Wi-Fi area
【From sp mode】 d menu → Service list (docomo Wi-Fi) → Area search site

When upgrading using "Xi / FOMA"

For upgrading, in addition to mini UIM card with docomo contract, sp mode contract
is required.
Operating procedure

 1. Download update file


 2. Install update file
 3. Initial setting
 4. Update the application
1. Download update file

[1] When "  " appears in the upper left part of the home screen , tap the status bar
and tap "There is version upgrade".

Even if the above icon is not displayed, you can check whether version upgrade is
possible by tapping "Settings" → "Device information" → "Android version upgrade"
→ "Start version upgrade". If it is possible, the screen of step 2 will be displayed.


For LG products, you can check the upgrade from "Settings" → "Device information" →
"Update center" → "Android version upgrade".

【2】 Select download method. 


You can download the file in one of the following ways.

Download immediately (Wi-Fi only)


With the Wi-Fi connection, download the update file immediately.
Download later (Wi-Fi or Xi)

The update file is downloaded automatically at the set time by Wi-Fi connection or Xi
/ FOMA.
Download later (Wi-Fi only)

With the Wi-Fi connection, download the update file at the scheduled time. It is a
display when downloading by Xi / FOMA is not possible.
Do not upgrade

We will finish upgrading Android without upgrading.

 When the software of this terminal is up to date, "There is no need to upgrade, so please use
it as it is." Is displayed.
 If you cancel while downloading, the downloaded data will be retained for up to 3 days. To
restart the download, please resume from the notification icon in the status bar (download was
interrupted).
 When "Download later" is selected, the download time is automatically set. Start time can
not be changed. If you do not want to be downloaded automatically at the set time, please select
"Download immediately (Wi-Fi only)" and download the update file after "Android version up" →
"cancel reservation".
2. Install update file

【1】 Select installation method. 


Once downloading of the update file is completed, you can install it on this terminal.

Immediately install

Immediately install the update file.


Install later

Install update file at reserved time.


When installation is completed, this terminal will be restarted. 
When "Install later" is selected, the installation time is automatically set. If you want
to change the start time, please change the start time from "Settings" → "Device
information" → "Android version upgrade".


For the LG product, please set the start time from "Settings" → "Device information" →
"Update center" → "Android version upgrade".

3. Initial setting


Initial setting of docomo service may be necessary after upgrading to Android TM 4.4. 
For the procedure , please refer to "  Initial setup of docomo service (PDF format: 1,582
KB) ". When you are done, please proceed to " 4. Application update ".

1. Setting of docomo ID (d account)

Set docomo's email address as docomo ID (d account).


【1】 Select "Set" and press "Forward".

【2】 Enter the network security code and press "forward".


If you are newly subscribed to docomo and you already have a docomo ID (d account) please
press "Enter docomo ID (d account ID) / password and set" .

【3】 Enter your desired password (8 to 20 digit alphanumeric characters), confirm
"docomo ID (d account) Terms of service (must read)" and agree to "docomo ID (d
account) terms of service Check "Yes" and issue "Set ID and press".


You can change your e-mail address by checking "Publish by changing e-mail address".

【4】 Press "forward".


2.Wi-Fi application usage setting ※ 1
【1】 Press "License Agreement (must-read)", confirm the contents, select "I agree
to the license and use" and press "forward".

 Xperia TM A SO - 04E / Xperia TM feat.HATSUNE MIKU SO - 04E is not included in the
setting.

This screen will not be displayed if you have done the setting on the left figure before
upgrading.

3. Setting of DoCoMo application password and remote initialization
service # 2

The docomo application password is a password used when you need to verify your
identity in order to use Docomo's application.

 Xperia TM A SO - 04E / Xperia TM feat. HATSUNE MIKU SO - 04E is set only for docomo
application password.

【1】 Select "to use" and press "forward".

【2】 Confirm the contents of "Remote initialization notes", check "I agree" and
press "Start using".
【3】 Enter the numeric input mode, enter the initial value "0000" in the "Current
password" input field and enter the new password you want to set in the "New
password" and "New password (for confirmation)" input field.

 Enter 4 to 16 single byte alphanumeric characters.


 For instructions on how to enter letters, please refer to the instruction manual .

【4】 Trace up the screen, select "Secret Question" to reconfigure when forgetting
docomo application password, enter "Answer" and press "OK".
4. DoCoMo cloud setting
【1】 Select "Set" and press "Forward".


This screen will not be displayed if you have done the setting on the left figure before
upgrading.

【2】 Check the contents of "Notice", "Application License" etc. for each service,
check "I agree with all contents" and press "OK".
5. All-in-one installation
[1] Here, select "Install Now" and press "Forward".


This screen will not be displayed if you have done the setting on the left figure before
upgrading.

6. Location provision setting

【1】 Select one of the options and press "forward".


This setting can also be changed from the docomo location information application.


To provide location information by GPS, please set "Setting" to "Location information
service" → "Access location information" to ON.


This screen will not be displayed if you have done the setting on the left figure before
upgrading.

【2】 Press "OK".


4. Update the application

【1】 After initial setting, when "  " appears in theupper left part of the home
screen , tap the status bar and tap "Upgrade completed".
【2】 Confirm the update of the application on the update list screen displayed after
tapping "OK" on the completion screen. Updates to applications Update apps.

【3】 Update check of each application from "Play store" → "Menu" → "My
application", and update the application Update the application.

 If there is an update to the application, unless the application is updated, the operation may
become unstable or the function may not operate properly.
 Please check with the application provider about the OS version compatibility of each
application.
Notes

 Version upgrade can be done while keeping data saved in this terminal, but data protection
may not be possible depending on the state of customer's terminal (breakdown, breakage, water
wetness, etc.). It is recommended that you back up the necessary data in advance. However, there
are data that can not be backed up, so please be forewarned. Please refer to the instruction
manual for 
details of backup .
 Please read the procedure carefully when updating.
 Please upgrade at the customer's responsibility.
 After version upgrade, you can not return to the previous version.
 Please make sure that the battery level of this terminal is fully charged.
 Please close all applications before upgrading. If another application is launched during the
update, the upgrade may be interrupted.
 Please do not turn off the power while upgrading.
 During version upgrade, all functions of this terminal including call origination / reception can
not be used.
 Version upgrade is not possible in the following cases.
 talking
 When outside the service area is displayed
 International roaming in progress
 In airplane mode
 When tethering as parent machine
 When date and time are not set correctly
 When there is no necessary battery level
 When there is not enough free space in the main memory
 Upgrading may take time.
 We recommend you to upgrade version without strong movement of radio waves.
 When you are roaming internationally or out of the service area, you will see "You can not
start rewriting processing even if you do not receive DOCOMO radio waves or Wi-Fi connection is in
progress while roaming."
 When version upgrade is done, some settings are initialized, please set again.
 Upon version upgrade, information unique to this terminal (model, serial number, etc.) is
automatically sent to our server. We will not use the information sent for purposes other than
upgrading.
 When the PIN code is set, the screen for entering the PIN code is displayed in the middle of
rebooting after the rewrite processing, and you need to enter the PIN code.
 If you failed to upgrade the version and you can not do any operation, please contact us for
the troubleshooting window specified by docomo.
 The screen used in this procedure manual may differ from the screen actually displayed.
