Rev D is about 0x98 fatal error cod due to FW/Print head compatibility.

FW:
FW 11G5 also includes a modification to improve the print quality
In FW history file, it is described as: “1-1) The control signal of the print head was changed to improve the
printing quality.” Due to this change, at the time of repair, please proceed as follows:

1. Check FW version, it should be 11G5 or later

If FW is not up to date, please update it before replacing the print head when possible

It is highly recommended to update FW to latest FW available version and to do it before

replacing the print head when possible.

If you replace print head with ASP print head FA22041 and FW is
07FA to 03G2 (for 8000 Series) ,0x98 fatal error code will occur.

2. Replace the print head following instructions described in TE16-0342 and Service manual
Disassembly /Reassembly
Do not forget to replace the seal join at the time of Repair.

3. Perform necessary adjustment

If you do NOT update the FW:

Printer seems to work correctly but it will print a blank page
In this case just simply update FW; you do not need to re-swap the print head.

You can get following communication error code from adjustment program when you do not set print
head that fits for the printer model or when you don’t update the FW.
