Nichele Filicetti Bio

ASU Exercise & Wellness Intern (Spring 2011)

My name is Nichele Filicetti and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the community of
Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch. I have recently completed the Exercise and Wellness program at
Arizona State University and, in order to obtain my degree, I require the hands on experience that is
learned through an internship position. After having the chance to work at the Anthem FITT for Life
Expo in November, and being warmly greeted and immediately accepted by the friendly staff and
members of the community, I decided that Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch was where I wanted to
complete my internship experience.

If there is one thing I have learned from my education at ASU, it is that prevention is the best way to
battle the growing epidemic of chronic disease. Specializing in the area of Health Promotion, I am
dedicated to teaching others how to realistically incorporate healthy behaviors in order to create and
maintain, what those in my field deem, a “healthy lifestyle”. Having worked at BioNature’s, a vitamin
distribution company, I have obtained firsthand experience in the field of Alternative Medicine and
Holistic medicinal therapies. With the abundance of new studies being conducted and new research
unearthed, I believe it is imperative for those in the health care field to be informed as to what the most
current health information is, and to provide this information to the community in a comprehensive
manner. I used this mentality in order to present a Stress Management workshop to members of the
Apache Junction Greater Valley Area Health Education Center. As previously stated, I have also
worked at the FITT for Life Expo, where I completed various health assessments on those of the
Merrill Ranch and Florence community.

I am a spirited, self motivated and very hard working individual. I enjoy working in a team but am
also able to undertake projects on my own. I tend to see obstacles from different perspectives than
others, creating unique solutions. Though I will be utilizing the knowledge that I have acquired
through my ASU education in order to teach the community how one can obtain a “healthy lifestyle”, I
am looking forward to the opportunity to learn from the individuals within the community as well. I
know there is still a lot more I need to experience before becoming a successful health professional and
I am eager to be able to learn this information through those here at Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch.
