Plant Maintenance - Single Cycle Plan

Once the master data has been created, we now need to plan. For example for
cleaning, when and how often we need them.
To carry out this activity, it will depend on the requirement of each equipment
maybe coming from the manufacturer’s recommendation and /or from the
experience of the PM personal in the field.
To carry out any planning activity, all the relevant master data needs to be
available. So now we can plan for the eqp created in previous steps.

There are three different types of plans in PM

Single Cycle create transaction code = IP41
Strategic Plan create transaction code = IP42
Multiple Counter Plan create transaction code = IP43
But they can all be changed by transaction IP02 and displayed by IP03

1 - Single Cycle Plan Create

Single Cycle: IP41
Maintenance Plan = leave blank
Miant Plan Cat = PN Maintenance Notification, And Press Enter
Maintenance Plan = give some description of what will be activity done, for
example inspection of the eqp

Maintenance Plan Cycle Tab:

Cycle / Unit = 30 / day (once a month, every 30 days)
Text = Monthly, and Press Enter

Functional Location = functional location

Equipment = equipment
Notification type = M1 (request)
Work Centre = work centre
Priority = Low, Med, High as needed (importance of the activity)

Task List
Now select the task that needs to be done, select from the list of tasks (choose
the tasks created for the equipment in the master data creation).
Press Execute to see the list of Task Lists

Select and press Enter to copy into the Plan

Maintenance Plan Scheduling Parameters Tab:

Call Horizon = 100%
Scheduling period = the length of the activity, how many days this activity needs
to be done
Start of Cycle = when this will be started from? Example today, next week, next
month?
Press Save
System will give message = Maintenance Plan #...created
This can now be displayed by IP03 or changed by IP02

2 – Schedule the Plan

Plan can be scheduled from Single Cycle Plan by IP02 from menu Maintenance

Or by Schedule Plan IP10

Press Start
System will show the plan for the planned duration of 180 days, plan for
carrying out maintenance every 30 days, so basically 6 plan dates every 30 days.

Select the first line New Start Hold

Then Press the Release to release and save

As this is released, it changes to “New Start Save to Call”
Once the plan has been scheduled, Save and system will create a Notification in
the background, which can be displayed by IW23

The notification is basically to advise the person responsible of the work

required. The relevant technician will be notified of the task/s assigned, and he
will update the notification with the work he has carried out. So a record is kept
of the activities performed per eqp and per maintenance person
The notification is automatically released as per the schedule given.

Notification Tab:
Add the description of the activity done
And press the Checkered Flag to indicate completion of the task.
In a situation when a requirement comes suddenly, which has not been
planned, you will need to create a notification so that the maintenance personal
can go and perform the work. As a record of all the activities and work done
needs to be recorder.
Also notification can be converted into a maintenance order if the job is bigger,
and settlement etc. will need to be done in that case.
Notifications can be created directly, and are called as general notifications.
