TARA PAA® - 5
Applications
Thermal Fogging
Peracetic Acid has been independently approved in accordance with
the French AFSSA for use in thermal fogging, under the requirements
of the AFNOR test method NFT 72-281(1986) for
‘Thermonebulisation’
How to calculate your building total airspace volume for thermal fogging:
The total airspace volume of a given building is the floor area multiplied by the average
height.
Surface Disinfection
Equipment Disinfection
TARA PAA® 5 is a powerful broad spectrum, multipurpose disinfectant for all areas of
routine disinfection on pig and poultry units including surface, equipment and water
system disinfection, foot & wheel dips and thermal fogging. Its unique, stabilized
Peracetic Acid readily breaks down after use into Oxygen, Water and a naturally
occurring, biodegradable organic acid (Acetic Acid). As a result, TARA PAA® 5 is
considered to be “readily degradable ” in accordance with OECD & EU standards
making it a highly effective yet of low environmental impact.
TARA PAA® 5 exceeded the pass rate required, by a 3 log reduction in virus titre, at a
substantially less concentrated dilution of 1:200 compared with its competitors. The
three, glutaraldehyde – QAC based disinfectants tested against TARA PAA® 5
required >3.0% concentrations of disinfectant to pass the test. The tests prove that,
at low temperatures, the biocidal performance of TARA PAA® 5 is superior to that of
the three other disinfectants.
See Table 1 for the concentration at which each of the four disinfectants tested
passes the 3 log reduction test – noting that at lower percentage, less product is
required and therefore it is more economical use the product.
Table 1:
In conclusion, the independent AFNOR test results make it fully apparent that the
Virucidal activity of TARA PAA® 5 would not be adversely affected when lower
temperatures, above freezing, are experienced on farm during the winter period. This
is very important to pig and poultry producers. TARA PAA® 5 passed the test at a
0.5% dilution (of 1:200) with the other disinfectants tested requiring much more
concentration in the solution to be effective against both test organisms. This shows
that, in terms of the amount of product necessary to be effective, TARA PAA® 5 is
clearly more efficient.
The specified uses and registered claims for TARA PAA® 5 may vary from country.

Peroxyacetic acid
Formula CH3COOOH
RTECS SD8750000
US TSCA Listed
Properties :
Formula C2H403
Small spills Sweep up and place in a metal container for immediate disposal.
Do not use spark-generating metals or organic materials for sweeping up or
handling spilled material. Dispose of the absorbed Peroxyacetic acid solution, in
small quantities at a time, by placing it on the ground in a remote outdoor area
and igniting with a long torch. Empty containers should be washed with a 10%
Sodium Hydroxide solution.
Stability Thermally unstable. After 30 days the specific Peracetic acid in 20gl
(with wetting agent), and Peracetic acid Spirit show a loss of Peracetic acid of
25,35,22% respectively with storage at 2-5 degrees.
Fire
Autoignition, °C 200
Fire fighting: If fire occurs in the vicinity of this compound, water should be
used to keep containers cool. Cleanup salvage operations should not be attempted
until all of the Peroxyacetic acid solution has cooled completely. Keep
unnecessary people away; wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full
protective clothing. Fight fires from an explosion-resistant location. In advanced or
massive fires, area should be evacuated. For small fires: use Dry Chemical,
Carbondioxide, Water Spray, or Foam. For large fires: flood area with water.
Fire potential: Flammable liquid. Dangerous fire hazard by chemical reaction with
reducing agents or exposure to heat.
Combustion: Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and / or toxic gases, Products
