Nawfal On Drive, Trust And

Systems.
When I work, and I get to seven figures, I want eight. I get to eight. I want nine.
When I get to nine, I’ll probably want ten. So always wanting more. And that is
also the case in my personal life. I dance, I'm a good dancer. I want to be better. I
want more. I want to be the best. It's good because it always drives you to aim for
more, but research, again, I always look at the research.

Research shows that you always want more. It's going to be harder to get to that
level of happiness, to that level of being happy with what you have. And I think it's
a balance. I think you should be pleased with what you have, but not be
complacent. So, appreciate what you have. I appreciate where I am now. I
appreciate my personal life, my business life because it could be a lot worse. And
it's pretty damn good.

But I still want more. Why not? Why do I want more? Not because I need it but
because I love the pursuit, so, if you want more because you enjoy the chase, that's
good but if you want more because you're unhappy with what you have that’s is a
dangerous place to be in and that’s the same in business as well as personal life if
you want more make sure you want it for the right reason. And again, in my case,
it’s the pursuit that keeps me going.
Enjoying the journey will bring you a lot more pleasure in whatever it is that you're
doing if I based this just on my experience. Trust is a b*tch. I trusted people and
that got me in much trouble and almost destroyed one of my companies purely
because of trust. One of my weaknesses is trusting people too easily. But I still
want to be open-minded about everything and not base everything on my own
experiences. So, while trust could be dangerous, it is also essential for success.

You have to have people in your business that you can trust. Some people that I've
hired at my company are family members and I hired them based on their skill set
and not because they're family, and the advantage there is that while many people
say don't hire family, again, don't be binary, could work for some. I've got some
family members that are not the best at what they do, and I've got other family
members that are doing an incredible job and I can trust them with running the
entire company that will never do something to harm me.

So that’s an advantage in hiring family. You get that level of trust that you don't
get with strangers by the same time your family has a what? 150, 20 people,
whatever it is. Finding talent within that small group of 20, 50, or 100 people
versus the millions out there around the world, that could also work for you. You
get the point. There's a lot more talent outside your circle of family. So, hiring
family, there's a place for that.

But it has to be done, right? You have to hire them based on their talent and you
have to trust them and what they do. And you have to separate personal from
business. Easier said than done.

Many entrepreneurs do not delegate because of a lack of trust. And that's

dangerous because you'll end up always doing everything yourself. You have to
trust other people to do things. You have to find the right people and trust them.
You have to put in systems to prevent them from using that trust to harm your
business should depend on systems and not trust. If you cannot trust people to do
what it is that you want them to do, then your business is depending on people
rather than on systems.

And that's the issue you need to focus on. Trusting people is essential. My concern
with IBC was not that I believed in people but it was that I did not have systems to
mitigate the risk of trusting people. The systems are there for a reason and they are
there to avoid people being able to harm your business and to afford the shortfalls
of people, the human brain has a lot of deficiencies and systems will mitigate that.

And systems will also allow you to scale your business, that's another significant
point to consider. Always be systems-oriented as a business. If your business is
dependent on people, it will not be able to scale. And you're risking a lot, people's
brain is Emotional. It has a lot of cognitive biases, whereas systems don't. So,
people will build systems. Hire the right people and have them focus on the
systems that will allow you to avoid all the shortfalls of the human brain, and also
allow you to scale.

Systems thinking is the key to succees as a business. Even life is a f*cking system
every day you wake up, and you follow a particular routine day and day again until
you die. So, the more you systemize things in life and business, the more you'll be
able to achieve quicker.
