Abstract

Now- a – days Frustration, Depression is one of the main social problem. The main
purpose of my research ‘’Frustration among the Youth in Bangladesh’’ is to find out about
the reasons Why this is increasing among the youth in our country. The youth of our
country hourly indulge in frustration because most of the time they give less effort and in
return their expectation is high. This research will reveal that over expectation from
parents, racism & bully, pressure, competition, false relationship results in frustration
among the youth. Their confidence level falls because of frustration. Our schooling
method is not reliable with the job markets. In our country increase rate of unemployed
educated youth is so high but parents expect more from them, beside this they are under
pressure & competition is so severe these days. Another common factor is bullying, which
sometimes leads to suicidal acts.

In this research, I will prove that over expectation from parents and other facts create
frustration among the youth. Our parents as well as the society prevent us to do the job
which we wish to do. This obstacle is creating a huge difference for the youth to conduct
their daily life. This conflict which is creating frustration among the youth. However, At
times youth is responsible for their own frustration due to lacking in determination for
reaching towards the goals. Youth is the only one who can remove frustration by obtaining
belief and confidence in themselves.

INTRODUCTION

Frustration means repetitive failure and this is a general impulsive response to opposition.
Which can arise from the felt resistance to fulfill ones determination or goal and it is likely
to increase when the achievement of the goal is blocked or denied [ CITATION DeB11 \l
4105 ]. According to Helmut Berger (2016), “The frustration that we experience can be
seen as the result of two types of goal blockage, such as internal and external source of
frustration. Internal sources of frustration usually involve the disappointment that we get
when we can’t have what we want. Another type of internal frustration results when a
person has completing goals that interfere with one another. The second type of frustration
results from external causes that involve conditions outside the person, such as, physical
roadblocks we encounter in life including other people and things that get in the way of
our goal.”

There was a time when people used to live together in joint families where everyone
helped each other in dealing with different problems. Children used to play in the grounds.
They were like leaves of a tree. Creating family bonds, living together with happiness,
sharing each others problem are like trends in a family. Every single person is supportive
of each other. So, frustration is not a part of their lives. Now times have changed due to
civilization and there are no more play grounds or joint family living. People lead their
daily lives with professions and different activities. So, this change has started to affect
people in a huge way.

When people experience precarious about their life and the result they are expecting are
not according to their efforts, they get attacked by frustration. This is also initiates from the
sensitivity of inability for achieving one’s desires. For example, occurs when one’s action
is less productive and he gets fewer results than he thinks he should have got. However,
this trend of being frustrated varies from person to person. anxiety, irritability, stress or
dejection which formed from the frustration can be destructive. The youth are the main
victim of frustration because most of the times they take heavy pressure to survive
themselves in the society, somewhat they should not take too much pressure in their life in
fact they should take pressure at a limit which they can bear easily.

1
BACKGROUND

Frustration is practised when someone’s expected result is does not appear to match with
their efforts and actions. Some representative types of responses towards frustration
include anxiety, giving up, strain, loss of nerves, pressure and depression. Frustration
causes wrath and wrath leads to violence. If the goal is fully out of one’s reach, giving-up
of the destination could be productive. Loss of confidence is a side effect of giving up and
it is a symbol of incapability to fulfill one’s goal which create the chances to drop out of
school or college. It can cause destructive impact on a youth’s mind. However, positive
person can change into a negative one by getting affected from frustration. It can slow
them down, avert their progress and, from time to time, totally immobilize them (Helmut
Berger. 2016).

Our education system is unpredictable with the job market that’s why the number of
unemployed graduates is increasing day by day. Now competition in education is also very
high in standard. Even applying for jobs is competitive. Racism and discrimination have
been seen at different places. Even in the present era, we can see racism in sports and
games. Students also bully their classmates, some times they get affected by it so wrongly
that some might end up doing suicidal acts. Due to modernization, people also lead busy
lifestyles. For which they do not have enough time to sit with their family and share some
time with them. False relationships are another issue for being frustrated. The stories of
frustration among youth in our country is commonly ignored.

2
RESEARCH QUESTION

All the perspectives which worries about the frustration among the youth in Bangladesh were
analyzed methodically. To find out the reason for frustration and to conduct this research paper, I
will find out the following questions:

1. What do you perceive of frustration?

2. What are the possible reasons & affects of frustration?
3. Why is youth mostly affected by frustration?
4. What is the role of family in dealing with frustration?
5. Frustration shouldn’t be the main issue for young people.
6. Do you think youth who drop out of school & work as day labourer are frustrated?
7. What do you do when you feel frustrated?
8. Do you think youth can themselves be able to come out from frustration?
9. Do you think frustration among the youth affects our Society?
10. What can be done to deal with this kind of situation?

3
HYPOTHESIS

Frustration is a rising issue among young people today. It refers to frequent

disappointment which is a general expressive reaction to opposition & It can be rise from
the apparent struggle to fulfill ones will or goal and it increases when the achievement
towards the destination is blocked or denied.

From my research, I will expect to find out possible reasons in frustration among the
youth. Which are Social & professional pressure, Racism & Discrimination, Over
expectation from parents & False relationship. It also can happen from repeated failure or
inability to achieve one’s goal or desire, which lose their self-confidence & push them in
poorest situation. Youths are very sensible in nature and this is the reason why most of the
time easily get frustrated. To some extend even youths can be responsible for their
frustration as they give less effort in fulfillment of their dreams. Beside this as a over
populated country we have high competition for job & for other acquisition. But our
parents demand & hope from us is so high. Our noble lifestyle stands by fulfilling those
requires. Other than this bullying is a common factor, which happens in almost every sort
of institution. Women’s are the mostly affected one. This report also covers how to deal
with this problem by preventing all the obstacles created by frustration.

Therefor, at the end of my research I will have the finding from my research work, proved
that- Frustration is a rising issue among young people today & it should be suppressed.

4
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

I will use two systematic ways arrive at my findings. Which will be primary & secondary.
For my primary research, I will condiment a survey of a illustrative specimen of NSU
students and also interviewing the people of Dhaka city who are aware of the problem
related with the frustration of the youth. My findings will be the reasons associated with
youth’s frustration. This primary research contains multiple number of people’s survey
presence & their interviews. There is also a survey questionnaire which contains questions
related to the research theme.

For my secondary research, I will gather data from numerous sources such as web &
libraries. I also plan to use the news articles and some blog writer’s articles. But most of
my primary research in based on the web. I have also made a portal in the google form to
get more response & opinions from the respondents. To elaborate my research analysis I
will use the internet and web portals like Google.

5
DATA PRESENTATION AND ANSLYSIS

For collecting enough data about “Frustration among the youth in Bangladesh” I hosted a survey
questioning on numerous aspects of my selected topic. The information gathered helped me to
find out the conclusion on my research topic. The questions were accomplished by a group of 25
random people and students from them 15 were male and 11 were female. Other than this, I
divided the respondents into three age scups. The information gathered is obtained and analyzed
thoroughly in the following pages.

6
 This graph was to analyze “Frustration among the youth in Bangladesh.”

My first question was, “Why is the youth mostly affected by frustration?”. This was a common
question but it can identify the respondents have sense related to frustration. The consequences
were as anticipated.

Over expectation from parents

Lack of determination
Repeated failures
Incapability to faceindifficulties
life
Inability to fulfill one’s goal

Excessive mental pressure

Figure 1: Why is the youth mostly affected by frustration?

Approximately 35.7% of the respondents choose Inability to fulfill one’s goal, 28.6% rederived
in excessive mental pressure, an equal percentage of 14.3% blamed lack of determination or
repeated failures. Over expectation from parents was quoted by 7.1% each. The data are
represented in a pie chart which is in figure 1.

The data gathered visibly displays that a large number of people think Inability to fulfill one’s
goal is the reason why youth an affected by hesitation. This reason made youth stray from the
right path and they have affected by deep feel of frustration.

My second question is related to, “Do you think frustration among the youth affects our
Society?”.

Figure 2: Do you think frustration among the youth affects our Society?

About 50% of them reported that they strongly agree with the statement and 35.7% said, they
just agree. About 7.1% said they strongly disagree with the statement. But it is verified that
frustration among the youth not only affects our society but also the country because in the future
youths will lead our country. They will be holding the next generation’s leadership. If they are
frustrated, how can they lead our country because it will not be able to accomplish the
requirement of the country. So, they will have to free of frustration and have more complete
personality.

My next question queries about “Do you think role of family is very much important in dealing
with frustration?”

Figure 3: Do you think role of family is very much important in dealing

with frustration?

The result was a massive acceptance with strongly agree responses. About 92.9% of people
agreed with the statement but 7.1% remained neutral.

A large number of people agreed with the statement because family members are the first known
with whom we share everything. There are the ones who support us in every single decision we
make. The support of the family can make a real difference to an upset person's capacity to
manage dejection or any form of depression. The family’s supportive activity can reduce mental
pressure of youth. The family essentially can eliminate frustration from the youth by providing
them accurate mental clinch. Foe mental support family members can deliver them proper
support by which youth can overcome from this problem and they can move on with their lives.

9
 This graph was to analyze “Frustration among the youth in Bangladesh.”

My 4th question was if they think youth who drop out of school and work at jobs and businesses
are frustrated. The response was that 50% agreed with the statement and 35.7% have strong gut
feelings that it’s a fact. Although there are some negative thoughts about the proposal. About

Figure 4: Do you think youth who drop out of school and work at job and
business are frustrated?

7.1% think that it’s impossible because they do not agree with the statement. Some youth maybe
frustrated as others may not because those who have dropped have been able to make their lives
easier that before. They are earning money, leading busy live. So, people thought they should not
be frustrated because they have made their own choices. People who thought they should be less
frustrated because of their achievement.

 This graph was to analyze “Frustration among the youth in Bangladesh.”

In my last question, I asked their opinion for “Youth is mostly affected by frustration because of
taking excessive mental and peer pressure.’’ Here 35.7% agreed that this is the reason. But
14.3% does not agree because they think this is not the probable reason for frustration.
According to

Figure 5: Youth is mostly affected by frustration because of taking

excessive mental and peer pressure

respondents there are so many reasons which could not be counted. About 50% remained neutral
because they also think there are many reasons. So, according to data not only mental and peer
pressure are the reasons, there are so many of this like false relationship, repeated failures or
bullying etc.

12
SUMMARY OF RESEARCH FINDINGS

The information I have gathered partially matches with my theory. Primary research shows
that maximum students think that the incapability to fulfill one’s goal or desire is the most
precise cause for frustration but the majority of those students do not feel that over
expectations from parents can be a reason to create frustration between the youth of our
country. Although most of the parents think that, frustration created by parents over
expectation is not true. Frustrated youth can lose self-confidence easily. In our country, it
is visible that a massive number of youth is living in our society working as business men
or at other jobs. Some of them unintentionally drop out from school because of their
financing crisis and some of them drop out for time limitation. At a point they also get
disappointed when they realize the importance of education and a degree.

However, maximum students admit that for a country frustration among the youth is a
massive damage. Though our youths will lead our country in the future and have a chance
to represent our country. They should not be allowed to be frustrated because if they are
frustrated they cannot fulfill their desire so this is their incapability to face problems which
is a barrier to success and achievement.

Therefore, we can say that most of the data represents the analysis that it agrees with the
thesis statement. It also proves my hypothesis because over expectation, mental pressure,
bullying and false relationship can change one’s mind into a negative focus.

13
RECOMMENDATION

In our daily life we have to face uncertainties but if we get frustrated to deal with indeterminate
issues, it is one of our major fault. To reach towards the goal and for achieving the glory we have
to give away our best. However, winning every single time is not necessary. Sometimes we can
accomplish our desire and achievement we may not achieve. At the time of failing, we should try
much harder than before whether most of the youth give up rather than trying. By doing so we
will be able to accomplish our desires and recover our self-assurance. So, the youth should trust
in their unique and prepared talents. However significant role is played by specific family’s in
eliminating frustration from the youth. Every family should give all source of physical and
mental support when a member in the family got affected be frustration.

CONCLUSION

We can not conclude frustration as a disease or even a mental problem. According to

psychologist, frustration is a general reaction to opposition. As our life is full of frustration,
youth is frustrated because of lacking in their determination. Youths should not take high mental
pressure over their capacity. Whenever the youth appearance any ambiguous matters, they seem
frustrated. At the time of danger, all youth should remain calm and should try harder than before.
By doing this youth will be able to regain their self confidence and can remove frustration.
