CHAPTER 1 ~ INSTALLATION
Insert the JoyCut software disk and select the proper directory to start installation. Step 1.: Insert the

installation CD.
Step 2.: You may change the default destination folder by click “Browse” button.
Click NEXT.

Step 3.: Click NEXT to start installation.

Step 4.: The installation will be completed in a few seconds.

Step 5.: Click FINISH to complete the installation.


CHAPTER 2 ~ SOFTWARE
INTRODUCTION
OPEN WINDOW

You will see the Welcome Dialog (fig. 2-1) whenever you start JoyCut. To disable
the Welcome Dialog, please go to FILE^FIELD SETTINGS SYSTEM^
WELCOME (fig. 2-2).

♦ Property Table

Property Table shows an object’s properties. It displays tabs and options for the selected object. To
display the Property Table, select one object and right click the button on your mouse; then choose
Property Table. See “CHAPTER 5 ~ EDIT MENU” for more information.

Create a new document in JoyCut.

♦ Open (File Menu)

(1) From the File menu, select Open.

(2) Select the file format, folder, and the file that will be opened.

♦ Close (File Menu)

Close all the documents. JoyCut will suggest you to save the current editing document before exiting. The

document will be lost if exist JoyCut without saving.

♦ Save (File Menu)

(1) From the File menu, select Save.


(2) If you are saving the document for the first time, a dialog box is displayed. Enter the name and
the location that will be used to save the document.
(3) Click Save.

♦ Save As (File Menu)

(1) From the File menu, select Save As.


(2) If you have selected the Save As command, a dialog box is displayed. Enter the name and the
location that will be used to save the document.
(3) Click Save.

♦ Import (File Menu)

(1) From the File menu, select Import.


(2) Select the file format, folder and the file that will be imported.
(3) Click Import.
(4) Drag and place the imported object.

♦ Field Setting (File Menu)

The Electro-Optical Automation Provider

From the File menu, select Field Setting, and then you can adjust the default value settings of: work
area, ruler, grid, trimming and tool tips.

Work Area

Here, you can change the size of the work area in the Field size box. Also, you can set the related
parameters of the SignPal cutter from Machine Setting, and the related parameters of your printer
from Printer Setting.

NOTE: Make sure that you click Follow Output Machine when you want to do the

cutting job.

• Machine Setting (fig. 3-4) - Choose the Machine Mode and Type for your SignPal cutter. Here, you can
change the parameters of cutting speed, cutting force, and offset. If you check Back Home, the media
will be moved back to the origin automatically after the cutting job. If you check Use Plotter Settings,
then you can ignore the cutter parameter settings here, and set the parameter values on your SignPal
cutter.

Rulers appear along the top and left hand side of the main screen to help you measure
and align objects. Check Enable the ruler, and the ruler will be shown on the screen.

Grid

Grids are a series of horizontal and vertical dotted lines within the design area. They
will not be part of the output. Check Enable the grid, and the grid lines will be
shown on the screen.

Trimming means moving the selected object by using the arrow keys on your
keyboard.

Here you can choose to show the tool tip notice.

♦ Preview (File Menu)

Click Preview from the File menu, and you will see the output preview from the
screen.
• Print - Start printing.
• Zoom In - A closer view of the object.
• Zoom Out - A farther view of the object.
• Fit - Fit the object to the paper size.
• Select - Show the selected object only.
• Close - Back to the work area.
CHAPTER 4 ~ OUTPUT MENU
The Output menu contains: Processed Condition Setup, Output
Preview, Output, and Communication Configure.

Machine Mode - Choose the SignPal cutter model that you are going to
use as the output device.

Paper Size - You can adjust the size according to the media size or use the
default value.

Use Plotter Setting - This option allows you to change the parameter
settings from the SignPal cutter only

Back Home - If you check this box, then the media will roll back to the
origin whenever a job is finished.

♦ Output (Output Menu)

The output box shows all output status. Click Execute to start cutting or Exit
to return to the work area.

♦ Output Preview (Output Menu)

From the output preview box, you can see the machine model and
communication port settings, as well as the pattern that is going to be cut.

♦ Communication Configure (Output Menu)

This option allows you to choose the desired output option from wither RS-
232(COM) port, Printer(LTP) port, or USB(GCCUSB) port.

NOTE : If you are using RS-232 port, please make sure that the RS-232
parameter settings on JoyCut are the same as those on your SignPal
cutter.

Align Aligns objects in relation to one of the objects.

You can break text with multiple lines into individual lines of text, or break vector objects into parts.

Creates reverse mirrored objects


(1) Select the object.

Mirror Vert is used to create mirrored objects upside down.


(1) Select the object.
(2) Select Mirror Vert from the Edit menu.

♦ Baseline (Edit Menu)

Aligns the text to the selected vector object.

♦ Split (Edit Menu)

Separate the text and the vector line that are currently adapted to the Baseline effect.

♦ Trans-Curve (Edit Menu)

Turns the selected text into continuous spots and allow you to drag the spots and redesign the shape
of the text.
(1) Select the text.
(2) Select Trans-curve from the Edit menu.
(3) Drag the points to from the original locations.
(4) Click the right button of your mouse after the dragging.

♦ Welding (Edit Menu)

Welding is to weld selected objects into a single one and to remove overlapping during the process.
(1) Select the objects and select Group from the Edit menu.
(2) Press Welding from the Edit menu.

Allows you to convert bitmap images into vector objects. GCC

Check the “Closed Path” box; then there will automatically turn up a line connecting the end points.

♦ Arc (Draw Menu)

(1) Select Arc from the Draw menu.


(2) Click and drag to create.
(3) Click again to fix the shape.
(4) Press the right button of your mouse to end the drawing.

Select the object and press the right button of your mouse; you can choose Property Table to set the
parameters of Frame, Fill, and Curve.

♦ Circle (Draw Menu)

(1) Select Circle from the Draw menu.


(2) Click and drag to create.
(3) Press the right button of your mouse to end.

parameters of Frame, Fill, and Curve.

♦ Rectangle (Draw Menu)

(1) Select Rectangle from the Draw menu.

(1) Select Text from the Draw menu, and there pops up an Edit Text box.
(2) Type the desirous text into the edit text box, and then press OK.

parameters of Frame, Fill, and Text.

Click the Advanced button (see Fig. 6-4), then there pops up the Text Advanced box. You can set the
following parameters:
• Size - The height of the text.
• Oblique - Slant of the selected text.
• Text Pitch - Spacing between characters.
• Arrange - The orientation of the text.
• Alignment - Justify the position of the selected text.

A feature that helps to manage a series of data, usually couples with Array Copy in the Property Table of
Group.
(1) Select the text.
(2) Press the right button of your mouse to choose Property Table.
(3) Check “Auto String” in the Property Table (see fig. 6-4), and click “Manager”.

• Auto Text Item - Default item name.


• Rename - Enter the file name you want.
• Auto Text Mode - There are four categories for choices: Serial No. File. Keyboard, and Data.

(A) . Serial No.

Serial No. allows you to create texts that follow a sequential numbering system
automatically (see Fig. 6-5).

• Auto Text Mode - Select Serial No.


• Prefix - Key in the prefix or simply leave it blank(e.g., Lucky).
• Postfix - Key in the postfix or simply leave it blank(e.g., *).
• Start - Key in the starting number(e.g., 200).
• Step - The value between two consecutive numbers(e.g., 1).
• End - Key in the last number(e.g., 205).
• Digit - The digit of the selected number(e.g., 3).

After filling some of the boxes, proceed with follow the following instructions:
(1) Click Apply, and Close.
(2) Click Apply All; the resulting text will be shown in one single line (see Fig. 6-6).

To have sequential numberings from the initial one, continue as follows.


(3) Select Group from the Edit menu (see Fig. 6-7).
(4) Check the Serialized Auto Text box, and select By Matrix from Array Copy mode.
(5) Key in setting values (see Fig. 6-8), and then click Apply All. The final result (see Fig.
6-9) will be related to the values set in Fig. 6-5.

(B) . File

The feature allows i mporting ‘ ‘Notepad” files by rows. It is practical while entering a

series of data separately. The following is an example showing the extension number list which is
named “Extension #.txt”, existing in PC( Fig. 6-10 ).

(1) Key in random text (the text will not show as the result ) and enter the
Property Table.
(2) From Text, check Auto String and select Manager; there pops out the Auto
Text Manager box ( Fig. 6-11 ).

(3) Enter the following parameters into the Auto Text Manager box (Fig. 6-12).
• Rename - Assign a file name if you do not want to use the Auto Text Item
name ( remember to click OK ).
• Auto Text Mode - Choose “File”.
• Prefix - Key in the prefix.
• Select File - Select the existing file that you are going to import into JoyCut (e.g.,
Extension #.txt).
Start - The desired importing row of the selected file (e.g., 1).
Postfix - Key in the postfix.

(5) After entering the above parameters, click Apply and Close.
(6) Click Apply All in the Property Table, and then there comes the result (Fig. 6-13).
(7) E.g., the “Start” number in Fig 6-12 is “1”, so “Christine #247” shows in Fig. 6-13. If
the “Start” number in Fig. 6-12 is “3”, then the result will be “Sylvia #249” ( refer to Fig. 6-
10 and Fig. 6-12).

(C).Date

Show the current date in various kinds of formats.

(1) Key in random text. The text will not be shown on the final result.
(2) Select the text and enter the Property Table.
(3) Check Auto String and click Manager to enter the Auto Text Manager box (Fig. 6-4).
(4) Key in the parameters in the Auto Text Manager box.
• Auto Text Mode - Select “Date”.
• Prefix - Type in the prefix (e.g., “Today is”).
• Form - Choose one form from this box.
• Postfix - Type in the postfix.
(5) Click Apply, and Close.
(6) Click Apply All in the Property Table (Fig. 6-15).

Note: The date shown is the same as the date shown on your PC.

♦ ObjView Bar (View Menu)

Select ObjView bar from the View menu, and the Object
Browser will pop up. From the Object Browser, you can
identify the output sequence.

♦ Show Order (View Menu)

Select Show Order from the View menu, and you will see a small tab showing on each object. The
number of the small tab shows the output sequence of the object in the work area. After enabling the
feature, you can put your cursor on the selected object and press the right button of your mouse.
There are more choices for changing the object’s order.

Order

• Top - Moves the selection to the top of the stack.


• Undermost - Moves the selection to the bottom of the stack.
• Upper - Moves the selection one position up in the stack.
• Lower - Moves the selection one position down in the stack.
• In Front Of - Moves the selection one position upper than the other selected object. The following is
an example (Fig. 7-4, Fig. 7-5).
(1) Select the order 2 fish and press the right button of your mouse.
(2) Choose In Front Of.
(3) Select the outline of the order 3 object. Finally, the order of the fish will be 3, and that of the
rectangle will be 2.

• In Back Of - Moves the selection one position upper than the other selected object.
• Reverse - Under show order state, you can use right mouse button to reverse the output order
of all objects, that is the first order will become the last order, and the last order
would become the first one.
• Shortest Distance - You can use the feature to find out the optimum sequence, in terms of
overall throughput speed.

♦ Grid Parameters (View Menu)

Select Grid Parameter from the View menu, and the Grid dialog box will pop up.
• Enable the grid - Check it and the grid will show on the work area.
• Grid size - Adjust the width and the height of the grid.
