1.0 INTRODUCTION
Asaga Corporation Sdn Bhd was requested to perform an infrared
thermographic survey for Sabah Gas located within the compound. The survey was
performed on the 16th & 17th March 2010, and was assisted by representative from the
Maintenance & Facilities Department.
The prime objective of this inspection was to locate and identify areas of
abnormal heating which existed in electrical equipment in an on-line/on-load
condition at time of survey and accessible to the camera field of view.

2.0 INSTR UMENTATION

The survey was performed using a Thermoteknix VisIR infrared
thermography camera. All thermal images presented in the following report were
obtained using this camera.

3.0 SUMMARY OF RESULTS

These following faults were detected during the survey and are tabulated as
follows:

4.0 INF RARED THERMOGRAPHY SU RVEY
GU IDELINE
To date, there is no governing body or organization that has come up with an
international standard for the acceptance of temperature profile in infrared
thermographic technology. As a rule of thumb, the following is temperature
difference guideline used for condition acceptance.

Areas of fault which, with continuous

100C – 190C monitoring, will probably be safe and failure free 1. MINOR
within 6 months.

Areas of fault deemed to be of serious in nature

200C – 350C 2. INTERMEDIATE
with repairs required as soon as possible (ASAP)

Areas of fault deemed to be of serious in nature.

Immediate shutdown and repair of equipment
>35 0C 3. SEVERE
would be required to avert fire or catastrophic
failure.
