Quick Start Guide

1. Search Google Books


Search is the first screen that appears when you start GooReader. To search Google Books,
just type the book title, author, ISBN in the search box and click .

Google limits the number of preview pages in some books. In GooReader search results you
will be able to see which books have full view, partial preview or no preview. You can also opt
to show only books with full view.

Note: To open a specific book you can enter the Book_ID in the search box and press the
"Search" button. You can find the Book_ID in the book page URL on Google Books
(For example: URL = http://books.google.com/books?id=mbBn8u1bNesC).

2. Read Google Books
To open book for reading just double click on it in the search results. You can expand the
reader window on the full screen and using your mouse position the book, zoom it and move
through the book page by page.

The Reader control panel provides you the following tools:

3. Drawing and Export tools
Using GooReader you can save any book page or fragment as an image file. Besides, you can
annotate this page or fragment with a marker. To do this, switch into the Draw mode by
clicking on button in the reader control panel.

After adding annotations click on button and use the following Note: You can also set

4. Create Bookmarks
When reading a book you can create a bookmark, so that next time continue reading from the
saved page. To create a bookmark click on button in the Reader control panel. After that
the book will be saved to Your Library with a bookmark for the current page.

Then if you continue reading the book – the bookmark will be saved automatically for the last
viewed page.

If you open a book that is already in the Library, you won’t see this button in the Reader
control panel, because bookmarks in the Library are set automatically when you close a book.

Note: All bookmarks are saved in the file gooreader.xml that is located on your computer
in My Documents/GooReader folder.

5. My Library

The Library section may contain either books added from the search results or books that you
have saved in PDF.

To add a book from search results to the


Library just click button in the book pop-up
box. After that the green ribbon “In Library” will
be shown for this book.

To add a PDF book to the Library – click the


button in the Library footer and select the
appropriate PDF file on your hard drive.

Under each book in the Library you can view the


progress bar. To remove book from the Library
click button in the book pop-up box.

6. Export Books to PDF
To export book to PDF - just press button the book pop-up box. In the opened window
select the start and finish pages, file name and location, and press the «Start» button. The
program will download the book pages one by one. You can stop the process any time, at that
the resulting PDF file will contain only these pages that where downloaded before that
moment.

Note: You can export books to PDF only in the paid version of GooReader

You can read exported to PDF books on your smartphone or e-book reader, or add them to
your Library and read offline in GooReader.

Note: The book pages are exported to PDF as images, but not as a plain text. That is why you
can’t copy text, search inside these books and zoom font size – you can only zoom the whole
page.
