PROPÓSITOS DE FORMACIÓN

A partir de esta unidad, usted podrá ser competente en los siguientes aspectos
relacionados con la utilización efectiva de la lengua inglesa para propósitos
comunicativos básicos, de conformidad con los descriptores incluidos en el Marco Común
Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas Extranjeras (MCERL, 2002) para usuarios
ubicados en el nivel de competencia B1:

 Identificar tipos de enfermedades en inglés y describir sus síntomas


 Formular preguntas en inglés referentes a las causas de accidentes, molestias y
otras adversidades en el contexto médico
Solicitar información de índole hospitalaria

MARCO TEÓRICO

Common Diseases in Medical Practice

Diseases are an alteration of health and can be infectious if they are caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi
or other agents or non-infectious origin whose provenance may be genetic or caused by external
agents.
The disease causes a physical, mental and social imbalance development in patients producing a
disturbance in the function or structure of one or more parts of the body. All diseases have an
evolving process. Its causes are generally known and are manifested through certain characteristic
symptoms and signs, whose evolution can be more or less predictable. There are many kinds of
disease; one of the most common is fever. Fever is a condition in which the body temperature rises
above 37.8 degrees when taken at a point outside the body. The duration varies depending on
various aspects taking into account the age of the person, the kind of infection or disease you have.
Fever itself is not dangerous but very annoying for the patient. Fever helps our body fights diseases.
Other annoying disease is the cold. It is a condition of our respiratory system caused by a virus and
is one of the most common diseases. Transferred from another person either by inhalation or
physical contact, which is why children are most affected by this type of disease. It manifests initially
with a sore throat and then with frequent sneezing and cough which can cause earache which is very
annoying and painful for the patient.

 To faint, to lose consciousness; to be unconscious; to regain consciousness;
 To treat, to cure, to heal; to be on the mend; to recover (from an illness); to get well.

Para dar cumplimiento en búsqueda de alcanzar los objetivos establecidos para el proceso de aprendizaje
se requiere que se sigan los siguientes pasos y así obtener excelentes resultados:

-Acceder al material en internet, leer y analizar el material complementario relacionado en el marco teórico

-Desarrollar las actividades de aprendizaje (Aprendizajes nuevos, previos y aplicados)

Rendimiento bajo: El estudiante no sigue indicaciones acordes a lo solicitado.


Rendimiento aceptable: El estudiante sigue algunas indicaciones dejando de lado la importancia del
seguimiento de todos parámetros dados para el desarrollo de la actividad, logrando parcialmente los
objetivos de la actividad.

Rendimiento sobresaliente: El estudiante sigue los parámetros dados a cabalidad, logrando la asimilación
de conocimientos y el cumplimiento de los objetivos lo que le ha permitido el fortalecimiento de su proceso
de aprendizaje.
