Content import to Moodle
Santillana USA will provide the packages with the file extension .mbz or .imscc. The .mbz
backup will include both assessments and question banks. The Moodle administrator should
choose which items to import.

Steps:
2. Import a backup file: Drag & drop the backup package .imscc provided by Santillana USA.
3. Click Restore button.

4. Click Continue button.
5. Restore into this course: Select Merge the backup course into this course.
6. Click Continue button.

7. Restore settings: Select activities, resources and blocks.
8. Click Next button.
9. Select activities and sections that are going to be included (by default, all).
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Next.

10. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Perform restore button.
11. It will take some time to upload. Once the content is uploaded, the following screen appears.
Click Continue button.
Important:
• If you are not able to restore the .mbz or the .imscc, please have the Moodle Administrator set the value
max input to 2500 in the php.ini file.
• Hide the Teacher Resources from the students view. Turn editing on and then click on the eye icon.

How to setup the External Tool Provider to a course for the .imscc file
In each course you need to setup the External Tool Provider.
Follow the steps below:
1. Turn editing on: Click Turn editing on. With the editing turned on, in the section you
wish to add your external tool, click the Add an activity or resource.

3. Adding a new External tool: Select an Activity name.
4. External tool type: Click on (+)

11. Adding a new External tool: Click on Save and return to course.
12. Add an activity or resource: Go to the external tool you just created and select Hide.
Important: Make sure that each course has only one External tool provider set.

How to import the .mbz file
1. Click on Restore under Administration tab on the left column.
2. Import a backup file: Drag & drop the backup package .mbz provided by Santillana USA.
3. Click Restore button.

4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Continue.
5. Restore into this course: Select Merge the backup course into this course
and click Continue.

7. Click Next button.

in the assessment and click Next.

How to work with question banks:
You can use the imported question banks to add questions:
4. Once inside the quiz, Select a category from the drop down menu and select
proper questions.
5. After selection is made, click on Add selected questions to the quiz button.
6. Questions will be available for the current Quiz / Assessment.
Important: If you are not able to restore the .mbz or the .imscc, please have the
Moodle Administrator set the value max input to 2500 in the php.ini file.
