Astrology is in use since thou-
sands of years and its roots are in
VEDAS, the sacred books of the Hin-
dus, which is considered to be the
oldest scriptures in theWORLD. Since
time immemorial it is in use, although
it has always been modified, with the
time. It is always abused by most of the
people of the world openly, but in se-
cret most of them are the strong be-
liever of Astrology and use it in secret.
They do seek the advice of the astrolo-
gers when they are in difficulties, prob-
lems and when they are tired of the life
and left no alternative for them. The
last resort for them is to consult the
astrologer for his astrological guid-
ance and remedial measures. I have
seen many politicians, who do not take
a step forward, without first consulting
the astrologer, or his stars being
checked. This is most common in In-
dia, and the whole sub continent.
No doubt Astrology has been mis-
used and people are looted by Char-
latans or so called Astrologers, who
have no knowledge of Astrology at all
or very little knowledge of Astrology.
Their main job is to misuse Astrology.
In the name of "Astrology" and luring
advertisements in the media, many
strong believers of Astrology, are be-
ing cheated. Those who are thus
cheated lose faith in Astrology. They
disbelieve Astrology due to their bad
experiences of so called Astrologers,
who cheated, frightened and looted.
Thus not only they lose their money
but also their good faith in Astrology.
These are the evils of our society and
we cannot prevent it. Such incidents

we must blame those Charlatans
and Cheaters who misguide the
people in the name of Astrology.
Scientists are always against As-
trology, although they know precisely
well, that Astrology is the Science of
the Stars or a part of Astronomy,
whose effects or vibrations are ap-
plied to the life of man. Well, we do not
want to enter into discussions about
scientific approach of Astrology! Sci-
entists have day to day practice of
abusing the subject of astrology, by
claiming "Astrology is not a Science!"
But Astrology doesn't require a cer-
tificate from anybody to prove that it is
indeed a Science, as it itself is a
perfect Science!

We are talking about the Vedic
Hindu Astrology and its Predictive
potential. Is Hindu Astrology useful
and gives guidance? In what way
Hindu Astrology helps the advice
seekers? Is Hindu Astrology is like
the SUN SIGN Astrology and gives
character readings only? No, Hindu
Astrology is not so. It is very precise.
It has many different areas, divisions,
and inner systems which can be of
great help to a mankind! It's beauty is
in its power of Prediction! There are
some in the Western world who dis-
like Hindu Astrology, and always
speak against it. Well, I advise them
to study Hindu Astrology in greater
depth and then test it. I am sure by
doing this they will get surprising ef-
fects or results from Hindu Astrology.

It requires deep study and knowledge
to judge it.
What does a client expect from a
competent astrologer? Can he be sat-
isfied with his character readings? In
what way character reading is helpful to
him? Then what is the right reply? The
answer is Hindu Astrology! Hindu As-

popular in the Western world like the
other successful entry of Ayurveda, the
forgotten old science of Indian System
of Medicines.
Astrology is a perfect science and
it is useless, if it cannot deliver its goods
in a healthy manner or help or guide the
advice seekers. Advice seekers always
expect some help regarding their own
problems. Is astrology helpful to a man-
kind? Has it got ability to guide the
people? If no then, what is the use of
spending money in astrology, if it can-
not be helpful, give guidance or make
someone more happier and healthier?
Hindu Vedic Astrology can give

questions. It not only helps the client,

Everyone is searching for peace in
one way or another. If it is not peace, a
happiness. Happiness? What is happi-
ness? Is it the happiness we get from
materialistic things? Perhaps, that happi-
ness is based a temporary one. Yet we fail
to realise that, that kind of happiness is
not a lasting one. People have taken up
many ways to find peace, through medita-
tion, Yoga, Intoxication, etc. This is the
age of Kaliyug and people are going to be
blinded by Moha maya - or illusion. No
materialistic happiness can give a man
lasting peace and happiness.
One should be able to find peace
through the path of Bhakti Yoga or devo-
tion. What can be more peaceful than
Krishna Bhakti? The process towards a
Bhakti Yoga starts when a person realises
that he/she is an eternalatma or soul and
not a body. A body is given just for the
recognition. A soul merely changes from
one body to another according to ones
actions or KARMA. Just as a man
changes from one set of clothes to an-
other. As the Lord says in Gita," A soul
cannot be slain with a weapon, burnt by
fire or destroyed. It is eternal." A soul has
no colour, sex, or race. A soul merely goes
through the process of birth and death
8,400,000 times. This wheels of birth and
death will go on spinning until the soul
takes the shelter of the lotus feet of Lord
Krishna. One can become free from these
chains of birth and death by Bhakti Yoga.
Our main aim in life is to go back to our
father Krishna. We are all part and parcel
of Him.
By being born as a human we are
given a chance to go back where we
belong. A place where one does not suffer
from old age, disease, and death - where
there is blissful permanent happiness.
But of all species of life a human form is
the best of all. As a human we have a
conscious which other species are lack-
ing. A conscious to know the difference
between right and wrong. We are given
speech to sing lord’s glories, eyes to see
his beauty and hands to perform good
deeds.
Krishna is seated in everyone’s heart
awaiting for the soul to take his shelter. He
is kind enough to provide the soul with all

our daily needs. He sees no difference
whether a person prays to him or not. He
does not think, "Let me provide more for
this soul, because he prays to me". No,
he gives everyone equally. All are loved
by him. If he can do so much for all,
imagine, what he can do for those who
have taken his shelter.
One does not need to do much in
order to take his shelter. One simply has
to surrender to him. As the Lord says in
the Gita:
Sarva Dharma Parityajya
Mam Ekam Sarnam Vraja
Lord says leave everything and just
surrender onto only me. Then he goes on
saying:
Aham Tvam Pabebhyam
Mokshyami ......
I will free you from all sins, actions and
I will give you moksha. We keep on saying
that we haven’t got time to surrender. We
have our daily duties to preform. We have
many tasks to do. We have children to
bring up, run the household, follow career
to make money, to buy luxuries of life. Let
us get retired and free from all this and then
we will go to Krishna. The truth is, we will
never be free from our Karma. If we would
not find time now, we never will. We will go
on wasting our lives. And when we do
realise, it will be too late. Our beautiful
bodies will be taken over by old age. How
are we going to do devotional service
when we are suffering from old age and
diseases? As age goes on, we start to lose
our eyesight, lose our hearing and gener-
ally become less energetic. How will we be
able to see his beauty, chant his glories,
listen to his leelas or do charity work then?
Although devotional service can be started
at any time, it is best to start at a very young
age. At young age we are more clean at
heart, more innocent, free from maya.
Bhakta Prahlaad and Dhruv started their
devotion at a very young age and surren-
dered themselves to Lord only and
achieved God's grace

Krishna is kind and he will take us on
at any time. Once we surrender to him he
will worry about us. He will protect and
help us towards bhakti yoga. It is better to
turn to Krisna late then never.
Bhakti yoga starts when we start
chanting his holy name. There is no dif-
ference between the Lord and his name.
It is one. If we start to say his name our
love for the lord becomes more stronger.
Even if a soul chants his name acciden-
tally or in vain it can still perform miracles!
The result will be good. A soul can estab-
lish a relationship with the Lord in many
ways. We can look upon Krshna as our
lord, master, lover, husband, supreme,

father, or even as a friend like Arjun.
Kamsa’s greatest enemy was krishna. He
wanted him dead at all cost. Yet he was
lucky enough to be killed by the lord and
receive his mukti. The question is why did
Kamsa get liberated when he was so evil.
The answer is Kamsa had already estab-
lished a relationship with Govind. It may
not have been in a positive way or be-
cause he accepted Govind as a god. In
the eyes of Kamsa Govind was just a
Gopal the cowherd. He adapted a rela-
tionship with the lord in a negative way by
becoming his enemy. Therefore he was
constantly talking, thinking about the lord
at all times. He was seeing the lord every
where, thus enabling him to associate
with Krisna. So in a way Krshna was
present within Kamsa. We can not even
think of Govind for a few hours, let alone
all times. Ajaamil was another soul which
went the wrong path. He committed many
bad deeds yet when he was dying he saw
the messengers of the lord coming to take
him to heaven in chariots. The reason
was a simple one. He had named his
beloved son Narayan. When he realised
his time was coming to an end, he got
scared and started to call for his son
Narayan. The last word which came out of
his mouth before death was the holy name
of Shree Hari or Krshna. Although he was
calling for his son and not lord Hari such
was the power in the holy name that he
got liberated. The lords name cleansed
the lifetime sins of Ajaamil, giving him a

book "A Beginner Course in Hindu
Astrology".
- it is well laid out in a simple and clear
fashion and is perfect for a beginner
with little or no prior knowledge of the
subject. It sheds light on the basic
principles of chart reading in an easy
to understand format and allowed one
to build up a solid foundation of proc-
ess involved. Also having very little
idea of the difference between West-
ern and Vedic Astrology I found the
explanation related to this very
illuminatary.
Overall, a very necessary and use-
ful book for an aspiring astrologer.
