START SEPARATING DRUM FULL WITH WATER TO THE WATER LEVEL 15

MARK AND AROMATIC SOLVENT TO LEVEL OF RETURN TO REACTORS

START LIGHT N2 BLOW 16

COOK AT 240-250ºC UNDER GOOD DESTILLATION .OBSERVE THE WATER 17

LEVELAND KEEP IT CONSTANT

START TAKE SAMPLE VISCOSITY ACID VALUE (TEST INSTRUCTION) 18

MEASUREMENT OF MONO-GLYCRIDE TEST

2. Introduction:

This methods can be used for the tests of Mono-glycride formation

during the
production of Alkyd resin.

3. Procedure:

3.1 Take a sample from the reactor in a graduated Cylinder .

3.2 Cool the sample in water pass.
3.3 Add triple quantity of ( Methanol Lab-Grade ) to the sample.
3.4 Dissolve the Mixture of sample and Methanol completely where there is
no oil separation.
3.5 If the Mixture still not clear , repeat step (1) again till you get a complete
miscible Mixture of the sample & methanol .

4. Result :

If the Mono-glycride test is positive shift to solvent cook step.

MEASUREMENT OF VISCOSITY BY GARDENAR

2. Procedure:

2.1 Fill a test tube with the resin sample.

2.2 Adjust the temperature of the tube at 25°C in a water bath.

2.3 Compare the alphabetical tubes of the Gardener Viscometer with the test tube

by inverting both tubes at the same time and comparing the velocity of the air

bubble.

3. Calculation of Results:

By comparison of the tube the viscosity can be determined according to visual seen of the
.air bubbles, where the tubes that have the same bubble velocity have the same viscosity

.Take the reading range for the test tube containing the sample .6.2
