National Safety Week Celebrations – March 2020

Theme for the Day/ Week – NSW 2020

4th – 10th March 2020

“Enhance Safety & Health performance by use of Advanced Technologies”

Guidelines for Celebration across plants:

 National Safety Flag Hoisting on 04 Mar’20 by Gathering all plant team members.
o Flag Hoisting & welcome Address by Plant Head, Speech on importance of National
Safety Day/ Week and its Campaign.
o Sweet distribution may also be planned.

 For promotion of National Safety Week, NSW Theme banners are to be displayed at
prominent locations.

 A list of Programs planned in the National Safety Week are to be explained during flag
hoisting/ NSW Inauguration to the all employees.

 The following is a list of programs for guidance for employees, workers, family members/
nearby school children etc. as applicable/ decided by the plant team.

List of Competitions:

• Safety posters. • Safety Quiz.

• Safety Songs. • Safety Drama (Nukkad)
• Safety poem. • Safety Electrocution
• Safety Slogan. • Safety debate
• Safety Essay.

List of Training & Awareness Sessions:

 Training over applicable Technologies and its usefulness to “Enhance Safety & Health
performance by use of Advanced Technologies”.
Example:
o CCTV monitoring, radiography for health of assets, fire sensors and alarm systems for
preventing fires, SCADA monitoring, Weather monitoring and communication over
adverse weather and geological conditions etc.
 o Reporting of incidents, monitoring of lone workers by developing communication &
recording system.
o RFID & GPS system to track vehicles for its driving trend & improving safe driving
practices of drivers.
 Imparting training to local public, site staff over Emergency scenarios and actions
required.
 Imparting voluntary training to nearby school children over basics of Hygiene, Safety
Behaviours, Road Safety, Fire Safety etc.
 Training from OEM experts for better understanding over operational risks, control of
special / critical equipment’s in the plant.
 Safety training to workers for reinforcing knowledge over weak areas as per the incidents
trend etc.
 Safety films display over various subjects like, Road Safety, Electrical, Isolation & Lockout
(LOTO), Work at Height, PPE usage (Harness etc.), Scaffolding, Lifting & Rigging, Risk
Assessment (HIRA).
 Training over Safety Observation tours.
 Training & Awareness over H&S Rules, H&S Behaviour traits
 Mass Housekeeping drives.
Above programs can be planned, scheduled for its execution.
After weeklong celebrations a conclusion session must be organized for issue of prizes and
display of participants Safety entries and winners by organizing a closing ceremony.

Note 1: For organizing these programs an estimate for issue of prizes, sweets to be taken in
advance from the respective authorities.
