TEACHER ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ EXPECTED RESPONSE

A. PREPARATORY
ACTIVITIES

Please stand let us pray. (students will pray)

(call a student), will you please
lead the prayer?

Good afternoon class!

Good afternoon Sir!
Please take your seat.
Thank you, Sir.

Who is the absent for today?
(call the attention of class
monitor to report the
attendance) All are present Sir!

1. MOTIVATION

Class, kindly take note

important terms I will be mention
related to science. Now, I want
you to widen your imagination
as far as you can. I have here a
question. Do you want to go to
the moon? Of course, some of
us want to go to the moon so
that we can actually see what is
the feature and matter at the
moon but some of us afraid
because of their lack of abilities.
I encourage all students to
participate because not all
people lucky to go to the moon.
Well then, you must train first
maybe you are the lucky one. In
this training you will only play a
game. This game is entitled –
PICK ME TO FILL ME OUT. We
are going to use this box. Inside
the box are questions. You are
going to pass the box while the
music is being played. When the
music stops, whoever handle
the box will pick one question
and he/she will answer it. One
question is equivalent to 30
seconds. You can freely pass it
anywhere but avoid throwing or
tossing it. Do you understand? Yes Sir.

Questions inside the box: Expected answer:

 Divide into three the sum of 25+15+5 45
 = =15
twenty-five, five and fifteen is 3 3
____.
 Thirteen is added to twelve 13+12 25
 = =12.5
divided into two is ______. 2 2
 42 ÷ 2 = _____.
 The sum of thirteen, six and  42 ÷ 2 = 12
twenty is _____.
 The quotient of dividend forty-  13 + 6 + 20 = 39
five and divisor fifteen is
_____.  45 ÷ 15 = 3

Very good.

Let us give ourselves five claps. (students will clap)

B. ESSON PROPER

It seems that you were good in

counting numbers. Then, I may
say that the result of your first is
good. All of you had been
passed. You used your physical
ability nicely. Next training is the
qualification exam. It is to test
your mental ability.
(student will read the objectives)
But before we start, I want you
to read our goals to go to the
moon.
(call a student)

So, our mission on the moon is

focusing on the mean. So be
with me this afternoon as we
enhance our skills.

1. ACTIVITY

Now we will enter to the

examination room. In this room,
you will answer only short
activity to see how far your
mental ability. I have here a
balloon and a set of data shows
a score of 15 students in their
summative test. Before on that, I
want you to group yourself into
two. This part is group one and
this part is group two. Choose
your leader. Each group will
pop the balloon to answer the
question. And, each group have
only two minutes to answer the
questions. Understood?

(distribute the balloon)

The set of data shows a scores
of 15 students in their
summative test.

12 10 13 17 10 16 14 13 11 10
19 15 20 10 9 Expected answer:
12+10+ 13+17+10+16+14 +13
Questions: 1. +11+10+19+15+ 20+ 10+20
1. What will be the average of 15
test of all students if one got a 210
score of 20 instead of 9? = =14
15
2. What did you do to get the 2. Just add all students score and divide
average of students score? on how many students have.
3. Aside of adding this numbers, 3. No Sir. Because it does not mean that

Page | 3
can it also be summarized into a the average of all students score will be
single number? Why? the same to one student.

Very good.

2. ANALYSIS

All of you passed again. Now,

another ability was enhanced
which is your mental ability.
Class, we will hop on the
spaceship in 5 seconds it will
start launching. In 5… 4… 3…
2… 1… BLAST OFF! We are
now near to the atmosphere of
the earth. To pass it we need to
answer some questions.

Based on the activity, what

score is typical to the group of Students answer may vary.
students? Why?

Typical is also mean as

average. It could be most
frequent number or the number
that in the middle after it
arranged increasingly or
decreasingly. The average is thirteen.

What is the average or mean if

nothing will change? Students who fall below the average is
seven.
How many students fall below
the average?

Very well said.

3. ABSTRACTION

We passed safely to the

atmosphere. But there is
another problem left. The
asteroids are coming. It had a
solid instruction and knowledge
about measure of central
tendency about the mean.

Mean
 is commonly referred to as
the average of all values
 it symbols as “x́” (an x with

a line above on it).
 to compute the mean, just
add all the scores and
divide the sum by the
number of scores
 the equation is x́=
∑ x,
n
where ∑ x is the Example: Jonathan joins the singing
summation of all scores or
contest. The marks given by the first 5
data and n is the number of

scores or data.
(give an example)

Who will read?

Thank you.

Solution:

¿ 90.4 80, 40, 70, 90, 60.
Solution:

How about this second 20+100+50+80+ 40+70+90+ 60
example? Who will answer? ¿

¿ 63.75

Students will clap.

Very good. Give him five claps.

Yes Sir!
We solved again another
problem.

In minutes, we will land on the

moon.

Is everything clear?

4. APPLICATION

Page | 5
If so, try this one. I will group
you into four, this is group one,
this is group two, that is group
three and that is group four.
Choose a leader and
representative to your group.
You are going to write all that I
mention about science and you
will count every letters on it.
Write the total of letters beside
the important terms on the
manila paper that I provide.
Arrange the numbers according
to lowest to highest. After it
arrange, answer the question Yes Sir.
that I provided to every group.
Again, you are going to do this
with group since this is a group
activity. Minimize your voices so
as not to disturb other classes
nearby. Understood? I will give
you five minutes to answer.

Learners answers may vary.

Okay let’s start.
(distribute the manila paper)

For example: Meteoroid = 9

Questions of every group:

a. Compute for the mean.

b. What information can you get
from these two values?

(call a representative from one Students will clap.

of the groups to explain their
work)
None.
All groups got the correct
answer.

Let us give ourselves five claps.

Mean is also called as average.
Questions?Clarifications?
Suggestions?Any addition?

Okay class, since all of you ∑x

have no question. The equation is x́=
n
Then, what is another term of
mean? The process is just sum all the scores and
divide it on how many scores given.
What is the equation of getting
the mean?

Page | 6
(student’s answer may vary)

What is the process to find the

mean?

Yes Sir.

How can we use of mean or

average in our life?

Okay, very good.

Is everything clear?

C. ASSESSMENT
Expected answer:
Now we are on the moon. To
enjoy the moon surroundings, 1. Mean is 86.4
places, temperature and gravity.
Solve the following problems:
(5pts each)

1. Below are the mathematics

grades of 30 Grade 7 students
in the last quarter:

78 98 76 89 89 83 87 75 72 91 2. The value of y is 13.

90 79 84 84 85 88 87 95 96 95
96 96 76 80 83 82 85 92 91 90

Compute for the mean.

2. The mean for 10, 9, y, 12,

and 6 is 50. Find possible
values of y, given that the
values are whole numbers.

D. ASSIGNMENT (student’s answers may vary)

Answer the following questions

in a one-half sheet of paper:
a) define charts, tables and
graphs?
b) what are the types of
graphs and its definition?
and
c) differentiate the charts and
tables.
