1. TITLE. FINDING VOLTAGE IN PARALLEL CIRCUITS

2. AIM / HYPOTHESIS
Create a research question related to electricity or circuits that can be tested through the
simulation.
How do we know that Voltage changes when the amount of battery changes in a parallel
circuit? How do you know?
Answer the research question through a testable hypothesis.
We know how to measure voltage by using a voltmeter. We know that there is voltage in the
parallel circuit because the bulb is lightened up. We also changes the amount of batteries to
see if the bulb’s brightness changes.

3. VARIABLES: Be clear to define exactly what you are controlling and measuring.
(What I control, include how you’re going to change it through the experiment)
Independent: We are going to change and compare how parallel circuits work with
and without voltage. That way we will know exactly how voltage works in a parallel
circuit.

(What I measure, Include units and tools to measure it) Dependent:

I will be measuring using the unit (V) Volts, and I will be using the tool called the voltmeter.
(What I keep the same, including at least 2 of them, explain how to keep them the
same) Control Variables: I will keep the circuit the same, and also i will keep my research
question the same.

4. BACKGROUND INFORMATION (Paragraph at least)

Complement the background information including the following elements:
electricity, energy, generator, magnetic field, motion, motor, induction,
conduction, conductor, circuit, current, voltage, circuit, parallel, series, and
complex circuits.

Include a screenshot of your mind map.

I will use a parallel circuit for my project(the simulation) and I will be measuring the
voltage using the voltmeter. The parallel circuit have voltage in it and i want to
measure it to see how much voltage it have.So what i know currently is that the
circuit DOES have voltage, so I dont have to worry about changing my question,

5. REQUIREMENTS (list)
List the materials needed for your experiment if you were carrying out in real life, please include
materials the simulator allows you to use.
The tools I will use are: -wires -lightbulbs- the voltmeter - battery- switch

6. SAFETY
Imagine you are doing this experiment using real materials and
write at least two safety concerns below (list)
1. Do not touch anything unless required

2. Be focused or something unpleasant might happen.

7. METHOD (List)
Write a detailed step by step guide on how you will prepare and do the laboratory. Make
sure to include how you are going to control your variables. Imagine someone else will be
following your instructions so make sure they are clear, in order, and not missing any steps.

1. So what we do first is to put down the battery first, then we also put the switch
somewhere near the battery
2. Then we need to use wires to connect the battery and switch together, we also
should prepare the lightbulbs
3. After we connect the switch and battery, we take more wires to connect the bulbs.
But we connect it like the parallel circuit not series.
4. And the last step is to take the Voltmeter on the circuit. The circuit need to be turned
on. Then the voltmeter will say the voltage in the circuit.

7. RESULTS ( QUALITATIVE / QUANTITATIVE)

A. Describe and include pictures of the experiment’s result.

B. Create a table to show the results of the experiment.

Battery Numbers Voltage

1 9.00 Volts

2 18 Volts

3 27 Volts

4 36 Volts

5 45 Volts

6 54 Volts

C. Plot the data into a chart.

8. ANALYSIS (Paragraph): What trends (patterns) can you find in the data, now you have plotted your
graphs?
The pattern I can find is that every battery added to the chart, the voltage went up about 9 volts. This
continues to a point where the batteries just start burning.

9. CONCLUSION (Paragraph): You need to draw connections between your results

and the hypothesis throughout this section.
So the circuit I created has met my hypothesis standards , I have measured the
circuit with my voltmeter and I changes the amount of batteries frequently, that
way I will know what is the voltage between each battery change. My
experiment and my hypothesis is connected and I think I have proven my
hypothesis correct, the hypothesis is not false.

10. EVALUATION AND IMPROVEMENT

A. Identify at least one problem in your method that could reduce the accuracy,
or reliability of the experiment.
The one problem that can occur is that it could malfunction when the battery
wont work, also when the wires broke it wont work also. But I use the simulation so it
probably wont happen, but in real life maybe it will happen.
B. Suggest changes in the method that can improve the accuracy or the
reliability of the experiment.
If it's in real life, probably just buy some good product not some ripoff
products that break easily, if using a simulation, then we have to make sure we
put the wires correctly, or else the bulbs won't work.
