FR ASSESSMENT BRIEF (2009-11 Batch, Semester 4)

Duration Semester Four (40 hours/week) (8 Weeks)


Aim of the Module To expose the students to prevalent commercial and industrial
practice, and reinforce theoretical knowledge with practical
experience. To develop the ability to work as an effective and
willing member of a team and sharpen problem-solving skills. To
provide an understanding of the pressures of a fast-moving
industry.
Module Report : 60%; Presentation: 40%
Assessment
Learning Outcomes After completing this module, the student should be able to:
• further develop understanding of retailing practices of the
Indian retail industry
• analyze and apply classroom learning to real-life
applications
• Further develop generic and cognitive skills required for
advanced learning and application.

I. Assessment Element 1: Internship Report (100 marks) weight 60%

a) Aim of the Assessment:

• To further develop understanding of retailing practices of the Indian retail industry


• To analyze and apply classroom learning to real-life applications
• To further develop generic and cognitive skills required for advanced learning and
application.

b) Method of the Assessment: Report

C) Weight age: 60% (100 Marks, Report 50 Marks + Log Book 50 Marks)

The submission will be in Week 15 and will assess all the teaching and learning out comes as
mentioned above.

d) Brief for the assessment:

The assessment is further divided into:


1. Report and a
2. Log Book

A report will be submitted in the 15th week based on:

• The critical understanding of working structures, resources and systems of the


organizations where you are interning.
• A SWOT analysis of the organization in its current context focusing on the key points.
• An action plan for key findings from your study including resources, training,
duration, responsibility, likely problems of implementation etc.
OR
A specific project/ case study on the job to sharpen skills required for chosen area of
specialist. That is, if you are doing a project or a case study. Describe the
organizational context within the issue you studied occurred.

• Analyze your chosen topic in context of your internship giving key recommendations
with action plan.

• A list with some details of the key achievements/responsibilities undertaken by you


during the internship.

LOG BOOK

• Produce a reflective / learning log of your internship experience. Discuss what you
have gained from your internship in terms of your own personal development. This
shall be submitted separately. However, the learning may be expressed in detail in
the report.

Assessment Criteria for Assessment Element 1

Students should be able to demonstrate the autonomy and responsibility skills. The students
should be able to answer all the aims and the requirements of the brief and achieve all the
Los as briefed above.

Grading Criteria for Assessment Element 1:

Distinction (70% and above)–The internship log shows an evidence of reflections on your
learning experience at the interning organizations. The student demonstrates the ability to
demonstrate greater focus on the practices of the retail industry. He/ She should be analyze
and apply classroom learning to real life applications and contribute to formulation of overall
organization strategy. He/She demonstrates mature generic and cognitive skills required for
advanced learning and application. He/she puts forward a coherent, structured and
sustainable report.

First Class (60- below 69%) – The internship log shows a satisfactory evidence of
reflections on your learning experience at the interning organizations. The student
demonstrates ability to demonstrate an immature focus on the practices of the retail
industry. He/ She is able to satisfactorily analyze and apply classroom learning to real life
applications and contribute to formulation of overall organization strategy. He/She
demonstrates immature generic and cognitive skills required for advanced learning and
application. He/She puts forward a coherent and structured report.

Second Class (50-below 59%) – The internship log shows limited evidence of reflections
on your learning experience at the interning organizations. The student demonstrates ability
to demonstrate an immature and limited focus on the practices of the retail industry. He/
She shows a limited ability to analyze and apply classroom learning to real life applications
and contribute to formulation of overall organization strategy and also demonstrates
immature generic and cognitive skills required for advanced learning and application.
He/She puts forward a partially structured report.

Fail (Below 50%) - The work shows no evidence of internship log shows limited evidence of
reflections on your learning experience at the interning organizations. The student
demonstrates no ability to demonstrate the practices of the retail industry. He/ She shows
no ability to analyze and apply classroom learning to real life applications and contribute to
formulation of overall organization strategy and also does not demonstrate any generic and

cognitive skills required for advanced learning and application and is cannot put forward
even a basic report.

II. Assessment Element 2: Presentation: (100 marks) weight 40%

• To further develop and present an understanding of retailing practices of the Indian


retail industry
• To analyze ;apply classroom learning to real-life applications and present it
• To further develop generic and cognitive skills required for advanced learning and
application.

d) Method of the Assessment: Presentation

Grading Criteria for Assessment Element 2:

Distinction (75% and above) – The student demonstrates the ability to put forward an
exceptionally advanced presentation of report and the PowerPoint; shows a thorough
understanding of relevant parameters.

First Class (60-below 75%) – The student demonstrates the ability to assemble, evaluate
and select appropriate information for an enhanced presentation of report and the
PowerPoint; shows a mature understanding of the relevant parameters.

Second Class (50-below 60%) - The student demonstrates a limited ability to assemble,
evaluate and select appropriate information for a satisfactory presentation of report; work
shows evidence of only satisfactory understanding of the relevant parameters.

Fail (below 50%) - The work shows no evidence of assembling, evaluating and selecting
appropriate information for a satisfactory presentation of report and power point; work
shows no evidence of understanding the relevant parameters.
