The second half of Isaiah is divided into three parts:

1 The first third runs from Chapters 40-48
- It focuses on the greatness of God the Father

2 The second third in Chapters 49-57

- Focuses on the Son, as the suffering servant to redeem Israel from Her sins.

3 The third section is Chapters 58-66 looks at the Spirit

- Looking at the remnant of Israel and how the Spirit produces the glory of Israel when
the Spirit is poured out on Israel

Isaiah 45 is the section focusing on the greatness of God the Father and addresses:
I. The True and Righteous God (Isaiah 45:18-19)
II. The Assembly of the Nations (Isaiah45:20-21)
III. Salvation for All (Isaiah 45:22-24)
IV. Justification in the Lord (Isaiah 45:25)

I. The True and Righteous God

Isaiah For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and
45:18 made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am
the LORD; and there is none else.
The creator:
Genesis In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

There is a certain can of worms that I don’t want to open up in this

study, and that is how Isaiah 48:18 has been used to push what’s called
the gap theory.
In Genesis 1:2 the Hebrew word for formless is tohuw, which Isaiah
45:18 translates waste place. Isaiah says this is not how the Lord
created the Earth. When gap theorist place Isaiah 45:18 between
Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2, you get the fall of Satan in Ezekiel 28:12-
18 causing the earth to be formless and void in Genesis 1:2.

The reason for the conflict among Christians among this secondary
issue is because:
A. On one hand if Isaiah 48:18 and the fall of Satan in Ezekiel 28 is
placed between Genesis 1:1 & Genesis 1:2, that gives license to
many Christians to shove millions of years between the two
verses an merge their belief with science that contradicts the
bible.
B. On the other hand, Ezekiel 28:13 referring to Satan says, Thou
hast been in Eden the garden of God which was not created until
day six.

Creation is a mystery of God.

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast
understanding.
Job 38:5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the
line upon it?
Job 38:6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone
thereof;
Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job 38:8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of
the womb?

There is a primary issue that I want to discuss, and that’s the deity of
Jesus Christ:
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that
was made.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked
serpent.

Job 33:4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given
me life.

So we see the Father responsible for creation in scripture, we see Jesus responsible
for scripture, and we see the Holy Spirit responsible for creation in scripture, but
there is only one God. In this divine and infinite Being there are three subsistences,
the Father, the Word (or Son), and Holy Spirit, of one substance, power and
eternity, each having the whole divine essence, yet the essence undivided

There is only one God:

Deuteronomy Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
6:4
Deuteronomy And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with
6:5 all thy soul, and with all thy might.

These three are one:

I John For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the
5:7 Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Isaiah I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob,
45:19 Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
The teachings of Jesus is not secret hidden knowledge, it is to be
preached to the whole world.
John Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the
18:20 synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret
have I said nothing.
John Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them:
 18:21 behold, they know what I said.
John And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus
18:22 with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
John Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well,
18:23 why smitest thou me?

The new age and Theosophy prides it’s self on secret hidden, esoteric
knowledge only obtained by the so-called elite, but God frowns on that
kind of knowledge in the letter to the church in Thyatira, and calls it the
depths of Satan:
Revelation But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this
2:24 doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I
will put upon you none other burden.
Revelation But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

The NIV actually uses the phrase, “Satan’s so-called deep secrets” in Revelation 2:24.

II. The Assembly of the Nations

Isaiah Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations:
45:20 they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god
that cannot save.
The Lord summoned all the people who survived the conquest of king
Cyrus of Persia to assemble together for the purpose of exposing false
idols and condemn pagan practices. The church is also called to
condemn and expose pagan practices.
II Corinthians Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what
6:14 fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what
communion hath light with darkness?
II Corinthians And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that
6:15 believeth with an infidel?
II Corinthians And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the
6:16 temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and
walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
II Corinthians Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the
6:17 Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, (Corporate

worship was ordained by God during the Feast days for Israel like: the
Passover, Pentecost, and the Feast of Weeks.)
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord
in one place.

The church is command to come together and worship.

Hebrews Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is
10:23 faithful that promised;)

Noticed that Laban acknowledged that the God of Jacob’s father spoke
to him and gave him a command, but his excuse for only partially
following that command is to retrieve his own god.

In this portion of Isaiah, God is establishing Himself as the one and

only, true and living God.
Isaiah Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this
45:21 from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no
God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

Ephesians Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed
1:3 us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

III. Salvation for All
Isaiah Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none

21:7 spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he
take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Numbers And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a
21:8 pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh
upon it, shall live.
Numbers And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to
21:9 pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of
brass, he lived.

John And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven,
3:13 even the Son of man which is in heaven.
John And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of

John That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Thank God for His righteousness and the work that was done on the cross. If I was be
judged by my own righteousness, I’d be in trouble:

5:20 righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the
kingdom of heaven.

Romans But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly,

Chapter 11
Of Justification
1. Those whom God effectually calleth, He also freely justifieth,1 not by infusing
righteousness into them, but by pardoning their sins, and by accounting and
accepting their persons, as righteous;2 not for anything wrought in them, or done
by them, but for Christ’s sake alone;3 not by imputing faith itself, the act of
believing, or any other evangelical obedience to them, as their righteousness, but
by imputing Christ’s active obedience unto the whole law, and passive obedience
in His death, for their whole and sole righteousness;4 they receiving, and resting
on Him, and His righteousness by faith; which faith they have not of themselves:
it is the gift of God.5
 2. Faith thus receiving and resting on Christ and His righteousness, is the alone
instrument of justification:6 yet it is not alone in the person justified, but is ever
accompanied with all other saving graces, and is no dead faith, but worketh by
love.7
3. Christ, by His obedience and death, did fully discharge the debt of all those that
are justified; and did by the sacrifice of Himself, in the blood of His cross,
undergoing in their stead the penalty due unto them, make a proper, real and full
satisfaction to God’s justice in their behalf;8 yet, inasmuch as He was given by the
Father for them, and His obedience and satisfaction accepted in their stead, and
both freely, not for anything in them,9 their justification is only of free grace, that
both the exact justice and rich grace of God might be glorified in the justification
of sinners.10
4. God did from all eternity decree to justify all the elect,11 and Christ did in the
fullness of time die for their sins, and rise again for their justification;12
nevertheless, they are not justified personally, until the Holy Spirit doth in due
time actually apply Christ unto them.13
5. God doth continue to forgive the sins of those that are justified;14 and although
they can never fall from the state of justification,15 yet they may by their sins, fall
under God’s fatherly displeasure;16 and in that condition, they have not usually
the light of His countenance restored unto them, until they humble themselves,
confess their sins, beg pardon, and renew their faith and repentance.17
6. The justification of believers under the Old Testament, was in all these respects
one and the same with the justification of believers under the New Testament.18
