WHAT IS AIESEC
AIESEC is the international platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential so
as to have a positive impact on society. It is the largest student run organization in the world as recognized by the
United Nations. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership and management. AIESEC provides its
members with an integrated development experience, comprised of leadership opportunities, international
internships and participation in a global learning environment. It is an organization run by youth, for the youth.

AIESEC began in 1948 as an organization to help develop friendly relations between member countries.
The founding members began building the organization between 1946 to 1948 and laid the final building blocks in
1949 at the Stockholm Congress. From being an initiative to develop international relations, AIESEC has become a
venue for youth education and development. Its members continuously strive to have a positive impact on
society as it has for the past 60 years. Today,

AIESEC is a global association with operations that involves 50,000 students in 110 countries at over 1,700
universities across the globe, and realizes around 10,500 exchanges yearly.

AIESEC Philippines was established in 1968 with the University of the Philippines being the first local
committee. Today, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University,De La Salle Lipa University, Ateneo de
Davao University, Miriam College, and University of Asia and the Pacific join AIESEC Philippines.

WHAT IS X SUMMIT

 X Summit is a short cut of Exchange Summit

 It is a Davao-Wide Inter-Collegiate Convention to be attended by
different University and College students (undergraduates), and
recent graduates of tertiary education in Davao City.
 For this summit, AIESEC is targeting students who are currently
taking courses in Education, Social Sciences, and some medical-
related courses (i.e. Nursing, Med. Technology). These students
are deemed to be suitable for the iExchange Program of AIESEC
Davao or the Global Internship Program of AIESEC International
and AIESEC Philippines for this coming summer 2011.
 It will also serve as the Introduction to AIESEC/ Induction
Seminar of new recruits applying for membership in AIESEC
Davao.
 It aims to showcase the International Exchange and Global
Leadership opportunities in AIESEC to undergraduates in chosen
colleges and universities, and recent graduates in Davao city.
 It will also serve as a thorough seminar regarding the exchange
policies, requirements, and processes that potential student-
applicants need to be acquainted with.
 Hopes to be able to inculcate amongst young individuals the

relevance of gaining an Integrated Learning Development

Experience through AIESEC: honing them to embrace the Global
Youth Responsibility.

About Ponce Suites Gallery Hotel

Tucked in the middle of Doña Vicenta Village lies a quaint hotel which displays an array of visually-
stimulating art pieces.
The art works you are going to see in Ponce Suites are aesthetic delights that aren't compromised by
conservative standards. You cannot miss the place because from the outset you can see gigantic, tribal-inspired
cemented sculptures guarding the perimeter of the hotel. Whether you are
drawn by awe or just by sheer curiousity, these huge statues look as if they
are beckoning you to stop for a while to marvel at their inherent
magnificence. But this isn't where it ends for this is what this place is all
about - a stopover. It is a respite for those who yearn to partake in
consuming visual food for the soul.
For people who appreciate modern art, going inside the hotel is a
confirmation of how diverse and eclectic art can be. Going away with the
usual numbered and framed hang-in-the-wall paintings you see in most
hotels, Kublai Millan's art works found in Ponce Suites literally fill every
nook and cranny of the place. Even the paint-splattered ceilings aren't spared from having art pieces like
different-sized paintings, wire-framed paper sculptures and even larger than life papiér-maché ants. - Visual Food
for the Soul by Frances Sepulveda / Mindanao Insider Daily
What used to be a three-storey box with thirty rooms is now surrounded with
gigantic sculptures of eagles, easily the biggest eagles in the world, the onlydurian with
seeds in the female form, the largest waling-waling and concrete sculptures inspired by
Mindanao's tribal culture.
nside the building are rows and columns of murals, art photos, paintings, art
pieces made of hair, toothpicks, nails, steel, and glass
filling every nook and cranny.
Although designed for children and the child in
adults, the artwork look as if they beckon you to stop,
feel, think, and reflect, or let your thoughts wander
what you may have missed in life.
At the hotel roofdeck lies an open terrace with 17
twisted lamp posts, giving a look of solemnity, sheltered by a giant table and
chairs reminding us of our smallness in this grand universe. On the other
hand, you will see giant ants, miniscule in real life, to remind us that all big things
come from small beginnings, and never again to belittle the critical contribution
of details. If you start counting the ants from the first floor to the third floor, you
will find that there are 365 in all!—an insight on the symbolism. But if you want to
be clear about it, ask for assistance from the hotel's general manager.
Run by the synergies of mother and child, the gallery hotel reflects their impassioned efforts to do little
business and make a big difference in the lives of the guests.

AIESEC X SUMMIT | DELEGATE HANDBOOK
Ponce Suites is for a once-in-a-lifetime priceless experience.
The art will wake up your heart and soul. The message will wake up your mind. Never again will you be the
same person after you visit the hotel. There, everything you see, feel and think spring from the bounty of art
pieces that you have never seen before, and can never be duplicated nor bought anywhere in this world

And to think you only paid for either a hotel room or are a participant of a live-out or live-in seminar which is
almost a daily occurrence at Ponce Suites!
Ponce Suites is definitely not for the faint-hearted. As soon as you enter the lobby, your senses are
overwhelmed by the texture and color of various art forms.
At the centerpiece is a papiermaché of women in a cycle of
life with hands outstretched... Worker ants crawling on the ceiling
are magnified a million times, butterflies are stuck near giant
flowers, bees the size of dogs with glowing eyes cavort with
flowers.
There are no walls. Just rows and rows of paintings, from the
ceiling down to the floor...Works of art are simply everywhere.
Even the restroom has seven to eight paintings and photos in
different sizes.
Then you come face to face with E.T. at (the) bar on the
second floor. You will feel compelled to touch this alien's forefinger
with your own, reminiscent of the young Drew Barrymore in the
late 70s movie.
At the top of the inn is an open terrace where the 17 twisted lamp posts, symbolic of Kublai's phases in life,
lend an air of solemnity.
But what really startles are the giant chairs and a table that seem to touch the clouds. From the huge ants
to these humongous chairs, you feel humbled and so puny. Then you begin to have a healthy respect for insects
who must be in a constant state of terror watching human beings. - Of Art and Ant: Kublai breaths life into an inn
