Q1. In terms of HR requirements, identify if it is the situation of HR surplus or shortage.

The discussed case is the situation of HR shortage as the number of patients in the day care unit have
been increasing significantly and keeps on growing in the future, while on the other hand the human
resources in Hine health trust is not much to keep the operations running smoothly.

Q2. Through brainstorming ascertain how the Director Human Resources can reduce the
restraining forces / barriers for successful implementation of the intended change?
The Director Human Resources should have sessions with the staff to tell them about the situation the
Trust is currently facing and way out of it. It shouldn’t be a one way communication but should also
listen to the concerns of the staff as well and look into what best can be done which will be in favor of
both the trust and the employees.

The change is better for the organization and the same is needed for the staff to understand the current
situation so that it is easier for them to adapt the change. The director should also communicate what’s
in it for the employees and for their betterment.

Major issue the staff is facing the fear of change in the organization will lead them in a worse off
situation and their skill might get effected. This can be eliminated if proper training to cope up with the
change is provided to them which suits the need of current scenario.

Any force has an opposite reaction so it’s natural that the employees will resist to change and the
situation will have to be handled with care and proper time should be given in order for everyone to
accept the change as it will be better for the Trust and for the employees when the realize that the
change is not going to be reverted now which will eventually create a favorable situation for both.

Q3. Considering the HR requirement of the organization, can you suggest any other feasible
option for Trust Management to deal with this Shortage/surplus? Rationally support your
answer.

As the organization is currently facing the shortage of staff and the inability to hire new employees. They
should hire people on hourly basis temporarily so that the change process can be easily implemented.
This type of hiring will have results faster and on a budget as well as the company is not financially
strong to support full time employees. They should then manage their hourly staff as per their
requirement and the need as the can work in shifts in odd working hours giving boost to cater higher
end customers well with the same number of staff that is needed to implement change.
