 Identify and mark the LETTER position.

INSTRUMENTS  Pocket stereoscope

 Mirror stereoscope
 Alphabetical card

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Focus and concentrate your eyes to the stereoscope within 2 – 3 minutes.
2. Identify carefully the LETTER position.
3. Mark the position of the LETTER either H if (X Higher then Y), L if
( X Lower then Y) or E if ( X Equal to Y) on the answer sheet.(Appendix A)

TITLE LAB 2 – Locating Principal Points & Base Lining
TASK • To get 3D viewing and determine a flight direction from oriented pair of
photographs
INSTRUMENTS  Mirror stereoscope
 Manila card
 Aerial photographs series no. 28 & 29
INSTRUCTIONS 1. Mark a principal point (TU) on both aerial photographs.
- Mark TU1 on left photograph and TU2 on right photograph.

2. Draw a straight line on manila card.

3. Get your eye base and set in the stereoscope.
4. Adjust your stereoscope so that it will parallel with the line on the manila
card.
5. Mark a midpoint on the straight line for each viewing monocularly.
- Left midpoint (Ki)
- Right midpoint (Ka)

6. Implement the transferring process of principal point.
- Put the left principal point on Ki
- By using your finger/pencil, find the same object on right photo and
put it on Ka.
- Adjust right photo stereoscopically for 3D viewing.

- On the right photo, mark TU1’.

- Do the same method on the left photo by put TU2 (right photo) on Ka
and adjust left photo for 3D viewing.
- On the left photo, mark TU2.
- Joining both principal point on the left and right photo, which are TU1’,

TU2 (right photo) and TU2’ (left photo).
- The line that connecting both principal point of left and right photo is calls
“Flight Line”.

- By referring to the flight line on left photo, put TU1 on Ki and adjust the
flight line so that it will parallel with the line on manila card.
- Adjust the right photo by putting TU1’ on Ka and make sure that the flight
line is parallel with the line on manila card.
- By viewing stereoscopically, we can look both photographs in 3D.
- If not, adjust only the right photo by moving it into flight line upward and
downward.

TITLE LAB 3 - Identification And Extraction Of Planimetric Information From
Aerial Photo

TASK  To introduce the principles on the identification and extraction of

planimetric information from aerial photos.
 To expose the students on the different method use in the information
identification and extraction from aerial photos

INSTRUMENTS  Mirror stereoscope

 Pair of aerial photos
 Tracing paper
 Graph paper
 Manila Card

INSTRUCTIONS1. 1. Students are required to identify and extract physical information from the
pair of stereo aerial photos.

2. 2. Among the typical physical information which supposed to be extracted is:-

Types of features
Acreage
Types of land cover
Other relevant information

3. Two common methods is used to perform the given task (No.2):

a. manual tracing using tracing paper and pencil
b. digital screen digitizing using specified softwares (e.g: AutoCAD)

*Detail description of the information extraction procedures will

be given in separates handout.

TASK  To introduce the principles and measuring method from aerial photos.
 To expose the students on the different method use in height
determination from aerial photos

INSTRUMENTS Mirror stereoscope

Pair of aerial photos
Tracing paper
Graph paper
Manila Card

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Students are required to fulfill the Baselining laboratory work (LAB2).
2. Determine the parallax bar constant and reading constant.
3. Establish at least five (5) ground control points on selected stereomodel
or stereopair and GCPS as control to others.
4. Instruction will be given on how to select and define suitable GCPS
(Ground control points)
5. Parallax bar reading must be recorded and used in parallax formula.
6. Selected Ground control points height must be in relevant condition
according to the calculation and the nature features.
