SCIENCE
EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE

Directions for the User

Here are some reminders to guide as you go through this module:
1. Read and follow each directions carefully;
2. Answer the pre-test before proceeding to the activity;
3. Take down notes and record points for clarification;
4. Always aim to get at least 80% of the total number of items given;
5. Be sure to answer the post test at the end of the module.

Introduction
The most critical and peculiar event in an organisms cell is protein synthesis where each
cell build needed proteins for structure and functioning. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and
ribonucleic acids (RNA) are involved in this process. The process is initiated in the cell’s
nucleus, where specific enzymes unwind the needed section of DNA, which makes the DNA
inaccessible and a RNA copy can be made. This RNA molecule then moves from the nucleus to
the cell cytoplasm, where the actual the process of protein synthesis take place.
