BREAK TANK SIZING

The Pump flow is 1.7 LPS.
The input flow to the pump should be greater than output flow of the pump. Since there can be variations in flow, a
collector tank i.e the break tank is used to overcome the variations if any.

At the rated capacity the pump can work for longer than 1 minute which is enough to compensate any loss in the
chilled water system.

Since, direct connection to the pumps can sometimes vary in flow & head values, break tanks are used to overcome
this issue.

Break tanks are approximately sized so that the pump can work for atleast 1 minutes.

1.7LPS X 60 Secs = 102 Liters / 2 minutes. So the tank is sized for 100 Liters.
