Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton had different views from Donald Trump regarding the Middle East and

Arab communities. Some of them were positive whereas others were negative depending on how

they would be enacted. Therefore, this essay seeks to explore how Hillary Clinton would have

impacted the Middle East and Arabian communities in case she had been elected as the president

of the United States

In case, Clinton had been elected as the president of the United States; she would have

restored the peace between the Israel and the Palestinians. Her main aim was to create an alliance

between Israel and the Arab states which would be conceivable enough to moderate the

Palestinian position, as well as, facilitate a key handshake on the White House Lawn. As such,

the Palestinians, who have often been torn between Fatah kleptocrats and Hamas Islamists,

would have had a great gain from the deal (Karam). Most important, it would have created a

good and better working relationship between Clinton and Israel’s leadership. Consequently, this

could have made the Palestinians, who have often been adamant, to eventually agree to the final

status agreement and bring an end to the conflict. Subsequently, Clinton had been in the

government for quite some time. For this reason, she would have no difficulties handling various

critical issues such as peacemaking in the Middle East and Arabian nations. That is, she was

aware of the leading actors, government, and people who were either allies or foes to the United

States as portrayed in numerous media outlets. In addition, Clinton would have stuck to the

United States’ foreign policy regarding Middle East which includes: strengthening Gulf

relations, boosting support for long-lasting relationships, taking an activist tactic towards Arab-

Israel peacemaking, regional elections, and a hand-off strategy towards human rights (Grim).

Lastly, Clinton would not have banned the entry of Muslims from the Middle East and Arabian

communities into the United States. She knew that this would estrange Muslim partners in the

Middle East and also cause harm to the US. Moreover, the Islamic States would use the

opportunity to recruit new terrorists. As such, her government could have worked towards

building more alliances with the Middle East and Arabian leaders in the nation in order to

combat terrorism.

On the other hand, Clinton would have created negative effects in the Middle East and

Arab communities. In her approach regarding the foreign policies in Middle Eastern affairs, the

majority of people perceived Clinton as an interventionist who supported all the ill-conceived US

assault on Iraq (Karam). Such support led to the implementation of al-Qaeda in the nation.

Further, others perceived her as an individual who refused to admit the catastrophic outcomes of

American military intervention in Libya. Therefore, her hands-on approach regarding diplomacy

in these regions could have resulted in further chaos and instability. Resultantly, this would not

have enhanced the US ties with Gulf states. Lastly, Clinton could have called for new sanctions

on Iran which would have been detrimental to the nation (Palleta). The reason being that she did

not like the idea of the Iranian government ill-treating sailors who had been supposedly

imprisoned in the Iranian waters. Moreover, she could have enacted new sanctions in Iran

because Iran had violated the United Nations Security Council Resolutions through testing

missiles.

To conclude, it is evident that if Hillary Clinton had been elected as the US president, she

would have brought both positive and negative effects in the Middle East and Arab communities.

the most evident positive effect would have been creating peace between America and these

communities. On the other hand, she could have supported hidden ill motives that would cause

more instability and chaos in the Middle East and Arab communities.
