What’s New in Oracle User Productivity Kit Professional 6.3?

Oracle is pleased to announce Oracle User Productivity Kit Professional (UPK Professional) 6.3. With
this release Oracle has incorporated a number of new features based on customer and partner
requirement, technology, and domain expertise. Oracle UPK Professional delivers rich new
functionality to include enhancements in sound capabilities, usability, and performance.

Users can create engaging conceptual content with full-
feature recording, editing, and playback capabilities,
including sound in web pages. The topic and web page
editors contain a new sound editor pane, with all the
controls necessary to record, edit, import, and export,
sound. Sound can also be added to the concept pane
of a module, section or topic.
The UPK Recorder now allows you to optionally capture
sound during topic recordings. This is perfect for
Subject Matter Experts to add audio commentary while
recording processes or for authors who wish to create
conceptual material with sound.
Enables authors to easily export screenshots and
instructional text for creating customizable PowerPoint
presentations to help ensure best practices. Each topic
is published as a separate PowerPoint file and each
frame is a separate slide in the presentation which can
include alternative actions, alternative paths, and
decision frames for easy reference.
Open and edit items directly within a package to reduce
content editing time and cost. Authors can open the
desired documents within a package to launch it in its
associated applications.
Authors can control how often the UPK Developer
makes a temporary backup copy of any open document
to enable document recovery. Recover all or part of
the unsaved content in the case of an accidental
closure of the application.

other items to remain in view on screen. This non-full
screen See It! Mode can also be embedded in other
applications or web pages.
The Topic Editor opens in a tab which allows its
components, including the bubble editor, to be resized
and docked similar to other editors. And, the Undo and
Redo functionality allows each action to be ‘undone’
and ‘redone’ individually.
A configuration utility helps configure UPK content for
SmartHelp or help menu integration.
Settings allow authors to turn off the preview of
concept content or selectively turn off the display of
specific document types such as packages, web pages,
and URLs.
In the See It! and Try It! modes, bubbles can be hidden
on a frame-by-frame basis in the Topic Editor. Topics
can also be configured to hide bubbles in the See It!
mode and Try It! mode for all frames in the topic
properties. This allows authors to create more
authentic demonstrations or to provide conceptual
information which does not require the bubbles.
The arrow keys can now be used to navigate up and
down within the outline, expand and or/ contract the
outline, and toggle through the various links and
graphic elements in each pane of the UPK Player.

Tabbed Gateway Users now have the option to deliver multiple help
resources through the in-application support using
UPK’s new tabbed gateway. This feature is
managed using the Configuration Utility for In-
Application Support and is documented in the In-
Application Support Guide.
Firefox 3.6 The latest release of Mozilla Firefox, version 3.6, is
now supported by the UPK Player as well as
SmartHelp browser add-on.
Oracle E-Business Suite Added support for version 12.1.2 for enhanced
object and context recognition. The UPK PLL is no
longer needed for Oracle versions 12.1.2 and
higher.
Agile PLM Agile PLM version 9.3 supported for enhanced
object recognition.
Agile Customer Needs Management Agile Customer Needs Management schema
1.0.014 is supported for context recognition.
Siebel CRM Siebel CRM (On Premise) versions 8.2, 8.1.1.2,
8.0.0.9, and 8.1.1 build 21112 (in addition to the
