Application
Control valve for industrial high pressure plants according to the
IG standard
Nominal sizes DN 16 to DN 90
Nominal pressure PN 325
Temperature range −200 to 450 °C
Versions
Standard versions with spring-loaded double stuffing box for
temperatures between −10 and 220 °C; nominal sizes DN 16,
24, 30, 45, 58, 70 and 90; nominal pressure PN 325.
Body of WN 1.4571 with intermediate flange of WN 1.7258,
end connection with screwed flanges and lens ring gaskets.
– Type 3259-1 ⋅ Type 3259 Valve and Type 3271 Actuator
with 350 to 2800 cm2 effective area (see T 8310 EN)
– Type 3259-7 ⋅ Type 3259 Valve and Type 3277 Actuator
with 350 and 700 cm2 effective area for the integral posi-
tioner attachment (see T 8311 EN)
Fail-safe position
Depending on how the compression springs are arranged in the
actuator (see Data Sheets T 8310 EN and T 8311 EN for further 5.1
details), the control valve offers two different fail-safe positions
effective upon air supply failure:
Actuator stem "extends":
When the air supply fails, the valve is closed (fail-close).
1.1
Actuator stem "retracts":
When the air supply fails, the valve is opened (fail-open).

The valve type 71.13 F is based on the Angle-body valve Typ 71.13 and the electric actuator
type Auma SAEXC 16.1 plus the linear thrust unit LE200.1
The Valve is flown in direction of the arrow. The adjusting of the plug is carried out by changing of the
electric signal at the actuator. The valvespindle is linked by a flangecoupling with the actuator.
In the standardversion a adjustable bonnet seals up the spindle to the outside. In addition the bonnet can be equiped
with O-Rings to seal up the spindle.
Mounting instruction
The valve including the actuator are mounted and adjusted ex works according the order specification.
Before installation of the Vetec-valve into the plant the connection pipe should thoroughly fushed
to remove any residues like nuts or bolt and other extraneous parts.
Also all packaging material must be removed from the valve, for example protection plates for the sealing
surface. As soon as the plate at the seat is removed the seat slips out of the valve-body. The seat must be
holden on to avoid the seat gets damaged.
The mounting position of the valve can be arranged in any way, but the vertical mounting (relating to
the actuator) into the pipe should be prefered.
The valve must be mounted free of stress. If necessary the pipes should be supported near connection
flange. The support of the valve and the actuator can be carried out after consultation with the manufacturer.
Consider that the arrow on the valve body shows in direction of flow.

Remark :
A packing out of graphiterings should be pressed
about 7% .
A mixed packing out of PTFE/Graphite should be
pressed about 10 %.
9. Mount the actuator (Pos. 20) with linear thrust unit (Pos.21) and console again.
4.) Remove pin (Pos.8) and unscrew the spindle (Pos.7) out of the plug (Pos.6).
5.) Screw in spindle (Pos.7) in the new plug (Pos.6) , bore a new hole and hammer the pin ( Pos.8 ) into the
new hole.
(The plug (Pos.6) must be fitted backlashed-free on the spindle (Pos.7). The vary of concentric running of
the spindle (Pos.7) to the plug (Pos.6) must be little, so that the spindle (Pos.7) does not press the packing
(Pos.12) to one side of the packung-space. (If necessary align with a prism).
6.) Put the plug (Pos.6) including spindle (Pos.7) through the upper cap (Pos.9).
Attention! Notice that the spindle do not get damaged by pushing into the upper cap.
Even small scratches in the area of the packing-space can lead to leackage and increase consumption of
the packing.
7.) Screw on upper cap (Pos.9) including spindle (Pos.7) and plug (Pos.6) onto the valve-body (Pos.1).
8.) Equip packing-space with new packing and tighten the bonnet (Pos.13).
9.) Couple the spindle with the actuator. Check the stroke and adjust it.

can be limited by up to 50 % in both directions (actuator stem
“extends” or “retracts”) and permanently adjusted. A special
version with one-sided travel stop for actuators with an effective
diaphragm area of 120 cm² is available.
Actuators are available with the following fail-safe actions: Fig. 9 · Type 3277-5 for direct attachment of accessories
“Actuator stem extends (FA)“
The springs cause the actuator stem to move to the lower end
position (sectional drawings, right) when the diaphragm is re-
lieved of pressure or when the supply air fails.
“Actuator stem retracts (FE)“
The springs cause the actuator stem to retract (sectional draw-
23
ings, left) when the diaphragm is relieved of pressure or when
18
the supply air fails.

Throttling or on/off service
In throttling service, the Type 3271 Pneumatic Actuators can be
used for supply pressures up to max. 6 bar.
In on/off service, the supply pressure must be reduced.
For fail-safe action “Actuator stem retracts (FE)“, the permissible
supply pressure must not exceed the upper bench range value 23
by more than 3 bar. 20
Actuators to be used with reduced supply pressures are labeled 21
accordingly. 22

Table 2 · Bench ranges for 1400 and 2800 cm² Pneumatic Actuators · All pressures in bar (gauge)
Values highlighted in gray apply to standard operation, i.e. operation at rated travel. The maximum travel can be achieved by in-
creasing the signal pressure. Pretensioned springs cannot be used with fail-safe action “Actuator stem retracts” for Series 240, 250,
and 280 Control Valves.

Technical data AUMA linear thrust units
LE 12.1 – LE 200.1
with multi-turn actuators for open-close duty
SAExC 07.1 – SAExC 16.1
in compliance with ATEX Directive
General information
AUMA linear thrust units type LE 12.1– LE 200.1 are used in combination with multi-turn actuators on valves which require linear
travel.
The linear thrust units convert the output torque of the multi-turn actuator into an axial thrust.
The tests for respecting the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC were performed in accordance with this technical data. For other
applications, please consult AUMA. 100 % load may only be applied for a short time during opening and closing. During running
operation, sufficient pause times have to be respected. The type of duty must not be exceeded.

These products are intended for use in industrial compressed air
systems only. Do not use these products where pressures and
temperatures can exceed those listed under ‘Technical Data’.
Before using these products with fluids other than those specified, for
non-industrial applications, life-support systems, or other applications not
within published specifications, consult Norgren.
Through misuse, age, or malfunction, components used in fluid power
systems can fail in various modes. The system designer is warned to
consider the failure modes of all component parts used in fluid power
systems and to provide adequate safeguards to prevent personal injury or
damage to equipment in the event of such failure.
System designers must provide a warning to end users in the
system instructional manual if protection against a failure mode
cannot be adequately provided.
System designers and end users are cautioned to review specific
warnings found in instruction sheets packed and shipped with these
products.
Water vapor will pass through these units and will condense into liquid
if air temperature drops in the downstream system. Install an air dryer if
water condensation could have a detrimental effect on the application.
