Interpretation of self-diagnosis results:

1. Fewer than 5 answers checked “yes,” indicate your communication is deficient, which can
generate conflicts among people, as well as frustration and lack of motivation.

2. 6 to 8 answers checked “yes” indicate you have good communication, but it could improve.
Remember that the work environment is characterized by peace and the assurance of
achieving results.

3. More than 8 answers checked “yes” indicate your communication as excellent. Thanks to
this, your coworkers and collaborators feel motivated and willing to keep improving because
the organization objectives are clear and feedback is given so they can improve their
performance.
Questions for reflection:

1. What positive behaviors could you identify in the way you communicate?

I show respect and consideration for the people I am communicating with this allow them to
fully express their ideas and concerns, I tend to concentrate in the specifics and I express
myself in a direct manner trying to end up with a clear goal or consensus, I always try to be
empathetic while listening to others and provide my feedback and express my point of view
and feeling mostly in direct conversations.

2. What behaviors of yours do you feel need improving?

I need to set aside time to establish goals and look back to evaluate the current situation, my
performance and my collaborators performance in detail; when there is a conversation in
groups I tend to reserve my point of view or feelings a bit too much and usually when I am
talking with someone the dialogue is 30% from me and 70% from the other person, so I need
to be more expressive and communicate more my ideas and thoughts

3. How do you think your way of communicating affects people and results?

I think people sometimes do not know what I am thinking since I do not express it and this
produces confusion in them, which ultimately results in not knowing how to act. But when the
other person has a lot to say, I'm good at listening and this helps the person to open up and
understand us better.

4. What factors do you think influence the way you communicate with others?

The number of people has a strong influence on the way I communicate, the more they are
the more complicated is it for me. I also consider that the place and time have a strong
influence; the eye contact, the body language and the tone of voice that I use are also really
important since they can affect and change completely the way I am transmitting my ideas
and thoughts

5. What conclusions can you make based on these observations that will allow you to improve
your communication as a leader, both in the work environment and in your personal
environment?
As a leader I want to be assertive in the way I communicate and transmit a message so
everyone can understand in a clear and a precise manner, at the same time I came to the
conclusion that I want to be more open with the people specially in groups and improve my
attitude so I can improve the way I apply my skills for interpersonal communication.

The behavior chosen for improvement.

I decided to improve or to stablish the time necessary to establish my goals and evaluate my
performance.

Actions to improve the chosen behavior.

1. Stablish a schedule so at least once I week I dedicate 30 minutes to recheck my goals,
evaluate them and rethink about them if necessary.
2. Evaluate my performance during the week, create a list where I differentiate where I
performed good and where I performed badly (areas of opportunity).
3. Try to get feedback from coworkers, friends and family.
4. Create a plan in how to improve based on the pervious list and comments, also continue
with the things I did good.
5. Evaluate if I need more time to reflect about this and in that case set aside more time for
the next week.
6. Continue with this cycle constantly.
