UK abduction The British Foreign Office has confirmed that it is investigating the reports that three British citizens
are in Taliban custody, while other sources say that £200,000 of ransom have been demanded for
three Britons abducted from a village in the outskirts of Peshawar last week. The FCO has refused
to name the abducted citizens. Meanwhile, the relatives of one of the abducted, Zahid Mohammad,
said he was a 20-year-old resident of Birmingham and that his father Zafar Mohammad left for
Pakistan four days ago in order to attempt his release. All the three Britons had contacted their
families before their phones went silent. They had ventured in to a no-go area, where even the
police don't dare to go. Sources said the three Britons had been abducted by local drug smugglers,
but we were later informed that they were sold to a third party, which in turn sold them to the
Taliban, who were interested in the fact the men were British. (Ausaf)
Blasphemy laws Sunni Ittehad Council of Britain and Markazi Jamaat Ahl-e Sunnat Britain and Europe leaders have
announced that the month of Rabi Al-Awwal will be celebrated as the month of Defence of the
Honour of the Prophet throughout Europe, rallies will be taken out and demonstrations organised,
where religious scholars in their speeches will celebrate the sacred topics of the Prophet's life, his
miracles and the defence of His Honour. The message of love for the Prophet will reach every
household in Europe. The scholars have also called on PM Gilani not to amend the Blasphemy
Laws. They accused the PM of spending all his time on visiting houses of politicians in order to save
the sinking boat of his government, while failing to understand the feelings of the Umma and the
160m Pakistanis in particular cherish for the Prophet. The Ulema pointed to the example of the PPP
leader Zulfiqar Ali Butto who properly gauged the popular sentiment and acted with prudence
declaring Qadianis a non-Muslim minority. (Ausaf)

that young men of Pakistani origin consider white girls easy targets. APL leader Barrister Amjad
Malik said that Straw first started a useless discussion about the niqab and now he is using Nick
Griffin-style language which does not befit a Labour politician. APL welcomed the statements of
Keith Vaz, Lord Nazir Ahmed and other Muslim Parliamentarians. He said APL had previously
condemned the criminal gangs victimising British girls and called for action against them. (Jang)

Taseer killing Malik Mumtaz Qadri was yesterday brought to an Islamabad magistrate in an armed vehicle and
under heavy police protection. He pleaded guilty of killing Salman Taseer and while registering his
statement said that he killed the Punjab governor after being influenced by homilies of Mufti
Haneef and Allama Imtiaz. He said that Taseer made himself worthy of having his throat slit by
calling the Blasphemy Law a 'black law'. Qadri said he had no remorse or shame and was entirely
satsfied with what he has done; he said he was ready to sacrifice lives of thousands in order to
safeguard the Hounour of the Prophet. According to a medical examination obtained by the police,
the body of Qadri bears marks of two wounds, which are subsequently going to be examined by a
dermatologist and a forensic specialist. (Jang)
Mumtaz Qadri has formally pleaded guilty and revealed that he decided to kill Taseer during a
Honour of the Prophethood conference in his neighbourhood. There are two deep wounds on the
body of the accused, which have been declared unnatural by the medical report. The accused
complained of severe pain and swelling around the wounds. The six-member medical board which
examined him at PIMS hospital deemed a further forensic examination necessary in order to
ascertain the nature of the injuries. When Qadri was brought from police station to the court there
was a large crowd gathered in the court's premises and some of those present blessed him, raised
slogans in his favour. (Ausaf)
Naveed Masood Hashmi: All this depravity started when following Pope Benedict's statement in
favour of Aasia Maseeh, who had been convicted for offence of the Prophethood, Salman Taseer
went to meet her at the Shaikhopura jail. Not only did he ridicule the court by declaring the
criminal innocent, but also – God forgive me – called the Blasphemy Law a 'black law'. As if this
wasn't enough, representatives of various NGOs serving the Western capitalist interests started
making their ignorant comments on TV shows, thus provoking the feelings of the Muslims. (Ausaf)
Loadshedding One person is killed and six wounded after police open fire on a demonstration against energy
shortages in Bannu. According to the police bullets were fired from both sides. A curfew has been
imposed in the area and security forces have been deployed. (Geo)
Parliamentarians Election Commission says the eligibility of 298 parliamentarians is suspect as they have failed to
submit credible evidence of their education. The list of Senators, MNAs and MPAs includes Babar
Awan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Shujaat, Chaudhry Nisar Ali and Pervez Ilahi. (Geo)
INDIA RELATED
Samjhauta Indian Home Ministry refuses to share the details of the Samjhauta Express investigation saying
that it is in its initial stages. Last week a pundit had admitted having bombed the train and a
mosque in India. (Geo)
