J2. Jointing Procedure
(1) Lay pipes

It shall be to lay the pipes with the Kubota mark

( )at the top of the pipes to facilitate maintenance.

(2) Clean up inside of Socket and outside of Spigot.

① Remove all foreign material such as sand, mud,

gravel, dirt and paint flakes.

※If there is foreign material left, it will be hard to

insert the spigot end or cause water leakage.

Remove the foreign material

-2-
② Using the brush, remove sand and foreign material.

Then, wipe inside of Socket with a cloth.

③ Clean up between from Spigot end to the White line

with a cloth.

-3-
(3) Rubber gasket setting

① Wipe the rubber gasket with a cloth.

Plus, it shall be to confirm the marking of

the rubber gasket is T-type.

②Insert the rubber gasket into the socket.

As shown in Fig.2.

③ Set the rubber gasket in the groove and make sure

it's not warped at any point. Confirm that the rubber

gasket is seated correcitly insaide of the socket.

It shall be to tamp the heel portion of the rubber gasket

with a plastic hammer to ensure that it is securely boxed

in the socket's groove.

Push firmly

④ It shall be confirm the condition of the rubbeer gasket.

※In the case of the rubber gasket is ×,

there is a risk of leakage.

3. Apply lubricant
(1) Use the "lubricant for ductile iron pipe the joint"

(2) Be applied uniformly in the range shown in Fig.4.

5. Check position of rubber gasket
(1) Confirm the proper position of the rubber gasket all

around the socket by inserting a feeler gauge

into the gap between the socket and spigot.

(2) If a feeler gauge is inserted abnormally,

it shall be split-up and checking.
