INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION

The main aim of production of goods and services is to satisfy the human wants .

In the past human wants were limited. They produced goods and services for

satisfying their needs. By the advancement of science and technology and

increase in the standard of living there is a rapid increase in the demand for

various products. This necessitated mass production and mass distribution.

In the independent India the industrial sector was very small. In 1950-51

only 16.7% of national income came from industries and only a 9% of labour

force where employed in industries. The industrial revolution is an important

positive approach in the field of economic development of India. There is shift

from traditional industries to technologically advanced industries. Minar

alloys and forgings pvt ltd, situated at New industrial development Area,

Kanjikode, palakkad the company was established during the year 2003.
It was one of the fastest upcoming manufacturing and trading of Ms ingots, TMT

Bars, Rods, The capital investment is Rs. 3.50 crores. The company has an annual

turn over Rs.24 crores and the top amongst its competitors because of its technically

superior and quality products. CERTIFICATES:-

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

This study is neither deep not wide, the study mainly concentrated on area of

production and personnel management. By using the primary and secondary data I

tried my maximum to study the production and personnel department of the concern.

There are so many limitations which reduces the scope of study.

The datas are collected by referring the primary data and secondary data.

PROFILE OF THE COMPANY

Minar alloys and forgings Pvt ltd, situated at new industrial

development area Kanjikode, palakkad. The unit was established during the year 2003.

The firm always engaged in the manufacturing of MS Ingots the company was situated

in 2.5 acre land. The initial capital investment is Rs. 3.5 crores. Rs.40 Lakhs are used

for pollution control. The company doesn't use any borrowed fund, it have only owned

capital. The company import raw material form Belgium, USA, Germany &company

also made local purchases from Malappuram, Trivandrum, Cochin, Coimbatore, the

main raw material used by the firm for manufacturing process is Heavy Melting

scrap, sponge iron.

There are 110 employees working in the factory. They are worked in two

shifts {8 to 6, 10 to 6} and only male workers are selected for the manufactory

process employees are mainly from Orissa," Bihar, and Andrapradesh etc.
SH. A Mohd Shafi is the managing Director of the Minar group.

Company provides full security to employees to face any incident. They are giving

insurance to all employees. Mainly the company manufactures Ms Ingots. It is used

as a rawmaterial for making steel bars they uses most advanced

technology available and high-end professionalism in all aspects of

manufacturing and distribution process. The group is driven by strong social

commitment and involves it self in various activities. They make efforts to raise

funds for charity purpose.

planting of trees and keeping small garden.

The MINAR GROUP OF COMPANIES is one of the fastest upcoming

manufacturing and trading of Ms Ingots, TMT Bars, Rods, under the logo as 'MINAR'

having three unit in kerala viz, Anappuram steels pvt ltd palakkad, Minar Alloys &

forging pvt ltd Kanjikode, Minar Ispat pvt ltd kozhikode.

The unit was registered and started in 1997, viz Anappuram steels pvt

palakkad.

Minar Ispat pvt ltd situated at Kozhikode deals with the production of Ms

Ingots, TMT Bars and Rods and also are involved in trading of these products.

Minar alloys & forgings pvt ltd, situated at new industrial development area,

Kanjikode, palakkad, this unit was established during the year 2003.
Charitable Activities of Minar

The group is driven by strong commitment and involves it self in

various activities. They are committed to social cause and they make efforts to

raise funds for charity purposes. They strongly believe that. These activities

done for benevolent purposes truly bring in satisfaction.

Truly stupendous performance from this company since many hesitates

to take care of the common public and indulge only in profit making. Minar's

has been a heart rendering performance since its inception and till date it is doing

a lot of charitable activities in the name of and style of MINAR CHARITABLE

TRUST. Some of its memorable activities during the year include opening a

FREE HOMEO CLINIC to the common public and supply medicines tree of

cost thereby service them as good as possible. The clinic has been functioning

excellently with the great support of the public who have lapped it up around

304 students of the government higher secondary school kuttikattor, calicut were

supplied uniform materials this year and the company has forwarded scholarship

to 6 students of this school. The company also donates rice and other essential

commodities to widows and under privileged women. The company also conducts

Frequently to girls who are deprived of the same due to financial constraints. These

charitable activities prove Minaf s social commitment and its obligation toward

society. Minar has been always considerate to words people and activities have

proved it's fruitfully association towards common public. All these events have

catapulted minar to fame. Minar now looks forward to do more exception charitable

activities to help the common people and this year we are on the threshold of promoting

various help to the down trodden ones.

A part from this, they give support to school children of vocation

higher secondary school at Kanjikode by way providing uniform to 250 students and

study materials, utensils, furniture, computers what ever is applicable. They provide

financial and moral help to people, we have presented two houses to the under

privileged people in the presence of the pudussery panchayat president.

Every business involves risk, facing risk is a major problem to the firm. Beside risk

there is also some other problem that have to be faced by a firm.

But minar have no such problem. They face only the problem of pollution. Kanjikode is

the industrial place in kerala. There are a large number of manufacturing units. So there

must be a chance of getting Polluted. Large amount of smoke are generated from the

factory and slag or wastes are dumped in road after manufacturing process and chemicals

used for production are also the reason for pollution.

Pollution means contamination of environment with was materials. This

situation is very harmful to our earth and living beings, pollution are different types

mainly they are:

 Water pollution

 Air pollution
 Soil pollution

 Sound pollution

Water pollution is caused by flowing sewage wastes and factory

wastes to the water resources. Soil pollution is caused by the use of

pesticides and other chemicals in the

soil. It may reduce the fertility of the soil. Air pollution is caused by the

large quantity

of smoke discharge from factories. These are very harm to our

environment. So that

Minar has to taking utmost care on pollution control equipments

andensuring that

controlling equipments are effective. For this they remove slag or

wastes dumped

in the road and provide separate storage area for waste,green belt in

the factory

premises, labour quarters cleanliness, propersanitation and sewages,

water facility,

for safety purpose they provide helmet, googles, shoes etc.

In the manufacturing unit's chance of pollution are more. So that

in this firm,

they implement so many measures and techniques to control pollution.

Objective of the study

Every business is started for attaining some objectives or goals. The main aim of

every business is earning profit. Business is an economic activity and it includes

production and exchange of goods and services for profit. So there are two part

of business Production and exchange, business is the process of coordinating

the human resources with non human resources. Such as men, machines, money

and methods for the success of enterprise. Every business has its own goals such

as maximizing profit, maximizing sales and demand, maintain good industrial

relation. The main objectives of this study are:

Organization structure

Organization structure is the frame work of relationship of individuals, working

at various levels to accomplish the organizational goals. It shows the authority

responsibility relationships between the various positions in the organization by

showing who reports to whom.

The management function is difficult in all organization. In Minar group

DEPATMENTAL ANALYSIS
Finance Department

Finance is the life blood of business. It is required for smooth running of business

activities and it is necessary to supply raw materials. Finance department have a sub

department called Accounts department were all accounting works are carried on.

Finance department takes care about the requirement of the units such as purchase,

sales, wages and salary distribution, labour welfare, repair and maintenance,

electricity and other expenses etc.

In Minar Mr. Chandra Shekhar is the head of the finance department. Finance

manager plans about the required fund for the whole year and day to day requirements.

Finance manager reports the MD to take care of the company's various proposals.

Finance manager conceal with all department head about their requirement and that

will passed to MD. He report about actual sales and productivity of the company.

The financial statements prepared by the company are published or kept in the

company safely. Those who want to know about company are make use of them.

The financial statements like balance sheet and profit&loss account are prepared

on the date of 31st march of every year. Those are prepared by the financial

manager and passed to auditors for correcting errors and omissions.

Purchase & Stores Department

Purchase department concerned with the task of purchasing adequate amount of raw

materials with adequate quality at reasonable price. Purchase department is headed by GM

and he is assisted by purchase manager. Purchase department controls over stores

department. The raw material has been purchased according to the requirement which freezed

by time to time order sheet, purchase order given by the production department. Purchase

orders are issued when each and every new order placed for the production department. Stores

manager purchase the raw material required and been stored in the stores department. Stores

departments’ main work is to report about the requirement of raw material.

Purchase manager purchase various raw materials from different areas. It purchase various

quality melting scrap, sponge iron, moulds and other material are consumable from

branded companies like

Responsibilities:

1.To release the vendor schedule for monthly basis.

2.Making availability of item or components to be supplied in time

and also ensuring of the same.

required for production.

4.To ensure the quality standard of the input or output components

5.To develop alternate source for achieving better quality and cost Reduction

6. To maintain vendor performance data.

Authorities:

1. To decide order requirement as production plan

Stores Manager: Responsibilities

1.To maintain customer supply products are proper documentation.

2.Is responsible for proper handling storage and preservation of all semi finished or finished

components.

3.Properly maintain on in process materials.

Production department

Production is the process by which goods and services are created to

satisfy wants. Production management refers to managerial responsibilities of

planning, organizing directing and controlling of production function. Production

is the transformation of raw materials into finished products. Production process

are different types.

Here, Minar Alloys and Forging Pvt. Ltd. Mainly produce MS Ingots. Mr.

Abdul Khadher is the head of the production department. Here production is

laid on continuous basis. This manufacturing process is called Continuous Flow

Process.

In this process, the work flow is continuous and all output has given

equal importance. The entire manufacturing process is broken into various

operations. Each unit flow one operation into another. At the end of the process

single output is generated. Here mass production is carried out continuously for

stock in anticipation of demand. The number of operations and the sequence of

operation also remain the same.

• Machines are arranged on the basis of product layout or operation

sequence of the product.


•Machines are used to perform specific operations. A semi skilled

operator operates the machine.

•Material handling process is mechanized.

•Product design remains constant.

•Mass production can be carried out.

•There is no interruption in production. The production is going on a

continuous basis.

In this company for manufacturing their products they follow

continuous flow process because mass production is needed. Main Raw

Materials Used:

•Sponge iron

•Heavy melting scrap

Scraps are collected from various locations and imported from Belgium,

USA, Germany and local purchases are made from Malappuram,

Trivandrum, Cochin and Coimbatore.

Collected scraps is stored in a place called Scrapy yard, for

manufacturing process the scrap is bundled into a large square piece by

using Bailing Machine, which help to bundle the scrap. And this square

pieces is transferred into a grinding surface by a magnetic crane. Pneumatic

chipping machines are used for sand removal. The crane capacity is 10 ton.
This magnetic crane place the scrappy square in to a grinding machine and it

become like sponge steel. And these are moved in to the furnace for melting the

scrap. The capacity of furnace is 5ton the capacity utilization is 85%

There is also some other raw materials used for producing Ms Ingots. It is

used for increase strength and quality of Ms Ingots and reducing heat. R

•Quartz powder

These are added at certain intervals before pouring into mould. One mould set

contains 58 pieces. This is poured into a series of ingot moulds and moulds

solidify. Coreless Induction Furnace are used for melting process. The ingot

moulds are stripped and the ingots are placed in soaking pits for heating and to

equalize internal and external temperature. Following the soak the ingots are

not rolled in large primary rolling mills to produce slabs, blooms or

billets depending upon the final product desired. The


Weight of one ingot is 80-90 kg. These ingots are transferred into store or

warehouse for handling it to real customer.

Details about the Technologies

Minar Alloys & Forging Pvt Ltd, used modern machines for

production process. Machines are fully computer controlled. For operating

such machines skilled Labours are appointed. At present the latest

technologies are adopted for controlling pollution. In their laboratory there

are so many equipments which is used for checking and controlling the

quality of the product

It is a modern equipment used for weighing the loaded container( in

tons). It is also controlled by computer.

The company has a well equipped lab which is headed by

Mr.Ravi Krishna. The main job is quality control and checking, pollution

checking. For that some machines are installed, they are:

Authorities:-
a. Ensuring controls on the process during manufacturing and these by

ensuring the quality of in house made items.

b. Ensuring quality of the finished products prior to despatch to the

customer.

c. Providing support to the vendors to meet the quality requirements

and also guidelines for continous improvements.

d. Establish necessary instructions and systems to carried out quality

planning, controls for our improvement activities.

e. Collection of data and analysis of NC products.

f. To advice corrective action to avoid recurrence of NC products

Personnel Department

Human beings are the most important factors of production in all organization.

Personnel department is concerned with the management and control of the people in

the organization. Human resource managing is a difficult task so in many

organization. Personnel department plays an important role. All problems related

with workers are solved by personnel manager. Personnel management is an art of

acquiring training, developing and maintaining, competent and efficient worker in the

organizations. In all firms personnel manager try to make a cordial relation among

and between employees and management. It is primarily concerned with the

management of personnel at work and their inter personnel relations. HR manager

have to

do many functions.

• They help the organizations to attain its goals effectively and

efficiently by promoting competent employees.

•To utilize available human resources effectively.

• To increase the fullest employees job satisfaction.

In Minar, both skilled and unskilled labours are working where the salaries are

paid according to their capability. The industry adopts piece rate system f r wage

payment to unskilled workers. They are mainly from Orissa, Bihar, Andhra

Pradesh etc. among them there is no female workers because the job is that much

danger.

The higher authorirties are being paid on 5th of every month and labours (wages)

are been paid every weekend.company provides PF,BONUS,DA,production

Department

Office management is the art of guiding the personnel of the office in

the use of means appropriate to its environment in order to achieve its

specified purpose. It relates with proper care and maintenance of

buildings, plant and machinery. It is also concerned with the layout of

the office, Staffing, Equipment of office etc.

Here Mr. Senthil is responsible for managing this department. He

has to perform certain functions. They are;

1.To educate operators on new process or new machines or any

other modifications in process.

2.To monitor process control and maintain relevant production and

in-process inspection reports.

3.New tool procurement planning and get approval from GM.

4.Identify sources for process improvement.

5.To ensure machine maintenance as per schedule (Daily/Periodical).

6.Communicate to higher ups regarding process development and

improvement.
7.Suggest training requirement for operator to GM.
8.To prepare break down requirements.
Sales & Marketing Department

The ultimate purpose of production is the satisfaction of human wants.

Marketing makes the goods are useful to the society by getting them

where they are wanted, when they are wanted, to whom they are wanted.

Here sales are directly controlled by the MD through the sales manager

and sales representative. Mr.Chandrashekar is the sales manager of minar.

They mainly supply their product in local market and have regular

customers.

The price is fixed by the MD and after fixation it will be informed to

the sales manager and he conducts meeting with sales representative about

the price based on the enquiry, the sales manager discuss with MD about

party's requirement and their target price. If any based on quality and

quantity. The MD finalizes the offer and enters the sales contract.

Collection of money after sales is the responsibility of sales manager.


Sales Manager: Responsibility

•To ensure prompt delivery of goods to all customers to meet the delivery

schedule.

•To ensure the quality standards of the output.

•To ensure the purchase order from the customer.

•To ensure any complaints from customer arise immediately inform the GM and

•To ensure the customer satisfaction report on every year.

•To ensure the settlement of invoice.

instruments.
