SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN

SCIENCE IV

I. Objective

At the end of a 45-minute period, with the use of visual aids, working model of the
urinary system, and slides presentation, 100% of the pupils should be able to do the following
with 75% success,
A. Identify the parts of the urinary system and their functions;
B. Value the importance of the urinary system; and
C. Draw and label the parts of the urinary system.

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: The Urinary System

b. Reference: Explore and Experience Science 4 by Kristine S. Gongora, pp. 68-69
c. Materials: visual aids, working model of the urinary system, and slide presentation

III. Procedures

A. Preparatory
1. Routines
a. Prayer
b. Checking of Attendance

2. Motivation
Poem

The waste from the blood were filtered by

our kidneys
It will combined to other liquid wastes
It will form the urine generally known as
pee
Then the urine will slide down the ureters.
The ureters are the tubes that carry urine to
the bladder
The bladder holds the urine until it’s fully
loaded
The urine will pass outside the body
through the urethra
And that’s how the urinary system works,
my Amiga!
- What do you think the poem is all about?
- Can you read the highlighted words in the poem?
- Those four highlighted words are the parts of the urinary system.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Activity

- The teacher will divide the class into two groups. An envelope that has puzzle pieces will be
given to each group. They have 1 minute to solve the puzzle and post in on the board.
- When the puzzles are complete, the teacher will ask the class what they observe.
- The teacher will guide the class to relate the puzzle picture with the poem to help the class
visualized each part.

2. Analysis

- After the teacher discussed the parts of the urinary system, he/she will show to the class a
working model of the urinary system and briefly demonstrates how the urinary system
works.
- The teacher will ask the class about the parts and importance of the urinary system.

3. Abstraction

The parts of the urinary system are

kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra.
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs The ureters are two thin tubes that take
that filter waste from the blood and produce urine from the kidney to the bladder.

The bladder is the bag-like organ that The urethra is the tube that allows urine to

- What did you learned about our lesson?

- What are the parts of the urinary system?
- Which is responsible for filtering the waste from the blood and produce urine?
- Which part of the urinary system responsible for the pathway of the urine from the
kidney to the bladder?
- Which is responsible for holding the urine before it goes outside the body?
- Which part allows the urine to pass outside the body?
- What is the importance of the urinary system?

4. Application

The class will divide into 4 groups. The teacher will give 5 minutes to each group to draw the
urinary system on a one-fourth cartolina and label the parts. Each member of a group need to
present their work in front of the class.

_____2. What is the main function of the urinary system?
a. Get rid of waste and extra fluid
b. Keep waste inside our body
c. Get rid of the nutrients
d. Holds your water inside
_____3. These tubes carry the urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
a. nerves b. urethra c. ureters d. capillaries
_____4. Urine exits the bladder and the body through a tube called the_______.
a. ureters b. kidneys c. bladder d. urethra
_____5. It holds the urine until it becomes full.
a. urethra b. bladder c. kidneys d. ureters

V. Assignment
In science notebook, list down the five ways of how we can protect our urinary system.
