SOCIAL MEDIA CHOICES

• Facebook : A hugely popular platform that has a


majority of world’s youth connected for multiple
purposes.
FACEBOOK + PINTEREST

➢Facebook is the major source of interaction among the learners

➢Pinterest, though not installed and accessed, is a repository of graphic micro-lessons.

➢Together, the reach and appeal will drive the lesson in an effective direction.

➢The learning can take place at the learner’s choice of time, place and duration.
WHY THIS MODULE ?

❖ Learners find “lack of appropriate words” a major hurdle in achieving fluency.

❖ Redundancy is highly undesirable at this level (Undergraduate)

❖ An essential component of their syllabus (aimed at clearing hiring processes) is SYNONYMS

❖ The benefits of this section will also extend to their performance in Analogy.
WHY THIS LESSON ?
o The lesson will take place first on the app to be followed by a classroom discussion.

o The action plan involves following a pin from Pinterest, either by link or attached file (jpg).

o Using the list in the Pin, the learners choose some synonyms of GREAT to compliment on Facebook.

o This will take place in the middle of the semester when the focus shifts from Grammar to Vocabulary

o This will be followed by more sessions on vocabulary, making them ready with a strategy to adapt

further.

HOW THE FUN-LEARN UNFOLDS
✓ The activity begins one day early in the evening.
✓ A pin is shared among the Closed Group members on Facebook
✓ They use a word from the list to appreciate their peers on some photo or post on their Facebook profile.
✓ The praised one, responds using another word from the list.
✓ Next day, In the class, the output is observed and feedback given as a whole with certain examples from the
previous interaction.

• It rather creates an indigenous Fan base- That of each other’s profiles.

• There is no media or theme to celebrate other than their own imagery/thoughts.

• It slowly builds up a community of self-motivating individual bonding around a common cause

• They may be moved to rally around a common personality – present among them / Imaginary College
