COURSE DESIGN

COURSE TITLE : DRAFTING TECHNOLOGY

NOMINAL DURATION : 1080 Hours

QUALIFICATION LEVEL : NC II

COURSE DESCRIPTION :

This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and positive


attitudes of the students to gather, interpret and convey information in
response to workplace requirement. It also aims to identify role and
responsibility as a team member, promote career growth, and both locally
and globally, comply with regulatory and organizational requirements for
occupational health and safety, take accurate measurements and
calculations, identify, and analyze and interpret symbols in plans and
drawings, and analyze quality of works and perform computer operations. It
includes core competencies in drafting technology such as: drafting
architectural layout and details and preparing computer-aided drawings.
The course may include any/all of the following as elective competencies as
may be required: draft structural layout and details, draft electrical and
electronic layout and details draft sanitary / plumbing layout and details,
and draft mechanical layout and details.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The following are expected from the students:

 can communicate both orally and in writing


 can perform basic mathematical computation and mensuration
 can work with positive attitudes

CALCULATION

MODULE DESCRIPTION: This module covers the knowledge, skills and


positive attitudes on identifying, and measuring
objects based on the required performance
standards.

NOMINAL DURATION : 40 hours

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

1. Objects or components to be measured are identified, classified


and interpreted according to appropriate regular geometric shape.
2. Measuring tools are selected/identified as per object to be
measured according to job requirements
3. Correct specifications are obtained from relevant sources.
4. Measuring instruments are selected according to job requirements.
5. Alternative measuring tools are used without sacrificing cost and
quality of work.
6. Measurements are obtained according to job requirements.

LO2. CARRY OUT MEASUREMENTS AND CALCULATIONS

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

1. Calculation needed to complete workplace tasks are performed


using the four basic processes of addition (+), subtraction (-),
multiplication (x) and division (/) including but not limited to:
trigonometric functions, algebraic computations.
2. Calculations involving fractions, percentages and mixed numbers
are used to complete workplace tasks.
3. Numerical computations are self-checked and corrected for
accuracy.
4. Accurate measurements are obtained according to job
requirements.
5. Systems of measurement are identified and converted according to
job requirements.
6. Workpieces are measured according to job requirements.

electrical drawing plans and design layout of
wiring diagrams and electrical circuits system,
auxiliary systems and layout.
