CourseDescription Thiscourseemphasizestheunderstandingofthecreativeprocessthroughcompositionandarrangingof musicalworks.Studentswillusemusictechnologiesappropriatelycomposing,editing,performing,and distributingtheircreativeworks.Grade11studentswillbecomposingandarrangingexercisesand musicalworksforthegrade9and10musicclasses.Thegrade12willbefocusingontheseniorband andrecordings.Studentswillcomposeandarrangesimplehomophoniccompositioninfourofmore partsusingtechnologywhereappropriate.Theclasswillbewritingcompositionsusingnonchordtones inthemelody,andchordprogressionsthatincludedominant7th,andarrangemusicforanexisting ensembleintheschoolofavailablevoicesandinstruments,transposingwhereappropriate.Throughthis coursestudentswillfindinmusicasourceofenjoymentandpersonalsatisfaction,gainingcreative problemsolvingskills,individualandcooperativeworkhabits,knowledgeofthemselvesandothers,a senseofpersonalresponsibility,connectionstotheircommunitiesandfuturecareers.
