Homorhythmic: Term form music with the same rhythmic structure in all parts

Counterpoint: the musical texture resulting from the simultaneous sounding of two or more
melodies or parts

Countermelody: a sequence of notes, perceived as a melody, written to be played simultaneously


with a more prominent lead melody

Periodic Phrasing: Music styled like call and response, The music is divided into pairs of an equal
number of measures, and the phrase of music is divided into an open-ended phrase that
requires a second phrase as a response.

Diatonic scale: A scale that uses the notes in the key signature

Codetta: A passage of music that brings the piece or movement to an end.

Antiphonal Exchange: when two parts are played alternately, (one answers the other )

Acciaccatura: A crush note, thought of a less melodically significant appoggiatura as the time
between the Acciaccatura and the note its self is a lot less.

Chromatic: Refers to a structure based on the chromatic scale which goes up in semitones.

Cadence: A particular series of chords or intervals that end a piece or section of music.
