INTRODUCTION:
Nowadays the rapid development of megacities and metro cities are the cause of the
growth of population, industries and business sectors. There is a need to expose the
activities and creativities in front of people across the globe to promote new trends
and cultures. As a result a space is required to gather people where this kind of
events can be taken place. This is the concept of a convention centre where people
can gather to share and earn various experiences. These centres emphasizes both
public and private events. Encourages tourism developments, business
developments, cultural activities, social gathering and amusements.

AIM:
To provide a world-class shopping experience, international convention centre and a
five star hotel to both tourists and the residents at the heart of the city..

PROJECT DETAILS:
International Convention Centre Complex will be built on 49 acres of land adjoining
to the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) and is a part of a new large-
scale mixed-use development targeted at the regional and global business visitor
market by the Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Limited (KTIL). The project will come up
on 18.79 hectares beside the road connecting the Akkulam tourist village with the
Kazhakuttam-Karode National Highway 66 bypass.
Phase I
A 1,500-seat convention centre at two levels with multiple meeting rooms, a four-
star hotel with 150 rooms, and a marina will come up in the first phase. The ₹200-
crore Phase I will have a built-up area of 16,503 sq m.
Phase 2

As part of the second phase, retail area, commercial space, an additional 1,500-
seater convention centre, a 5-star hotel, a 4-star hotel, a wellness resort, cottages,
food court, shopping kiosk, amphitheatre, and children’s play area will be set up.

Jetty for all hotel blocks for enabling access via the Kovalam-Kollam waterway,
multilevel parking for 400 cars, and accommodation units for staff are planned as
part of Phase II , which will have a floor area of 1,06,877 sq m.
OBJECTIVES:
 To establish the public private partnership
 To convert the city into a world class centre for shopping, conferencing,
exhibition and tourism.
 To blend in and connect with the urban and cityscape.
 To explore how it proves beneficial for urban growth.
 The main objective of designing a convention centre is to help organizations
hire on temporary basis a few common facilities like auditoriums, seminar
halls, lecture rooms, convention halls, commercial/retail space etc.,
simultaneously in the same premise.
 To provide an international platform to the various sectors a great opportunity
through this International Convention Centre.

DESIGN SCOPE:
 Phase 1
 Convention hall: The hall to be designed to accommodate 1500 seaters
at two levels.
 4 Star Hotel: The star hotel should comprise of 150 rooms at 10 levels.
 Marina
 Phase 2
 Convention hall: The hall to be designed to accommodate 1500 seaters
at two levels.
 4 Star Hotel: The star hotel should comprise of 150 rooms at 10 levels.
 5 Star Hotel: The star hotel should comprise of 150 rooms at 10 levels.
 Shopping Mall: The mall should consist of retails at 3 levels and
commercials at 1o levels.
 Wellness Resort : The resort should consist of 100 rooms at 4 levels.
 Food court and dining pods
 Marina : Shopping kiosk along with board walk
 Childrens play area
 Amphitheatre
 Multilevel parking for 400 cars.

THRUST AREA:
 To design a sustainable magnetic hub which will host multiple functions in
accordance to the urban context and should blend with the nature and
neighborhood.
 To create an iconic masterpiece that will serve as the landmark for the future.
