Bowen
Bowen was a knight who believed strongly in the Old Code and followed it strictly. Queen Aislinn hired him to instruct her
son Einon in the ways of knighthood, in the hopes that it would make him a better king than his father, Freyne.
When Einon was injured in a battle, his mother led her soldiers and Bowen as they carried the prince to a dragon who, at
the pleas of the queen, saved the prince by sharing his heart with him. Bowen swore an oath to come to the dragon's aid for
saving his student. Alas, Einon turned out to be no better than his father, if not worse.
Horrified by his old student's tyranny, Bowen instantly blamed the dragon, believing his heart had poisoned Einon, and
swore to hunt him and his kind down, becoming a vicious dragon-slayer. In truth, Bowen did not want to accept that his
student (whom he had loved and guided) was always a monster, which is why he shifted the blame to the dragon. Bowen
would not realise the truth about his former student until Einon engaged him in a vicious duel at the river.
So Bowen teamed up with Draco to destroy Einon. Unfortunately things didn't go exactly according to plan as Einon still
managed to survive him. Bowen engaged him in a second duel which was more vicious then the last. Bowen freed Draco
from his chains, but Draco pleaded with the knight to kill him as it was the only way to end Einon's reign. At first Bowen
was reluctant to do the deed because Draco was his friend. But when Einon charged at him with a dagger in his hand,
Bowen quickly killed Draco, and, by extension, Einon. He was one of those who witnessed Draco's ascension to the Dragon
Heaven and becoming a star. Afterwards, Bowen became king and with Kara ruled the land for a period of justice and
brotherhood.
One year before his death, Bowen visited the cave-home of Draco, and there he discovered a dragon egg. He took the egg to
a monastery where his friend Brother Gilbert, a monk, lived. The friars at the monastery pledge to hide the egg away,
which would later hatch into the dragon known as Drake.

Einon
King Einon is the main antagonist of the first Dragonheart movie. Einon was the son of King Freyne, as well as the prince.
Bowen thought he trained him to be just and good. Unfortunately, he wasn't good at training people to be good and blamed
it on Draco. Einon had always been evil and cruel, no better, if not worse, than his father (whom he viciously finished off to
claim the crown). He almost died when a village girl named Kara fell from a burning house. Einon was pushed into a spike,
striking him straight in his heart. The wound is deep, so he nearly died. But his mother took him to Draco the dragon. After
telling Einon to swear that he will lead a life of truth and honesty, Einon dies. But Draco offers his heart to bring Einon back
from the dead. But Einon began to show signs that he was as bad if not worse then his father and avenging his father's
death by burning out Redbeard's eyes. Bowen tried to stop him and saying "Remember the old code!" But Einon repiled
saying a King is above the code! Bowen tackled him and started fighting his soldiers to get a point to Einon. Bowen
returned to Draco's cave, believing him to have turned Einon evil and swore to kill every single dragon.
Twelve years later, Einon is an extremely tyrannical king with bloodlust and vengeance. He raised taxes high so he and his
cronies could have a feast for themselves. He meets Kara again and he locks her up but it fails and the girl escapes with the
queen's help. When he finds Kara again, Einon meets Bowen for the second time and engages him in a vicious duel with at
the river. After badly injuring Bowen in his shoulder, Einon reveals that he was evil all along. Before he can kill Bowen,
Draco interferes and drives Einon and his companions off by showing him his half-heart that also beats in Einon's chest.
Bowen gets revenge on him in the second duel by killing Draco thus ending his reign of tyranny.
Personality
Ill-tempered, spoiled, kooky, impatient, noisy, gluttonous, earnest, immature, narcissistic, organized, naughty and arrogant,
Einon was a cruel and heartless individual. He was extremely narcissistic and immensely callous. He was sly, bitter, kinky,
intelligent, nefarious, grouchy, emotionless, irresponsible, negative, obstinate, nasty and malicious, considerably
unaffected by the suffering he caused. His pure evil is almost driven to the point of murdering members of his own family
and attacking his own trusted allies.

The Old Code

The Old Code was a set of rules followed by knights, which were meant to maintain order in the world. It was followed
strictly by Bowen. Here is the full version:
"Inside the table's circle,
Under the sacred sword.
A knight must vow to follow
The code that is unending,
Unending as the table—
A ring by honor bound.
A knight is sworn to valour,
His heart knows only virtue,
His blade defends the helpless,
His might upholds the weak,
His word speaks only truth,
His wrath undoes the wicked.
The right can never die,
If one man still recalls.
The words are not forgot,
If one voice speaks them clear.
The code forever shines,
If one heart holds it bright."

The better known version is much shorter, consisting of lines 7-12:

"A knight is sworn to valour,

His heart knows only virtue,
His blade defends the helpless,
His might upholds the weak,
His word speaks only truth,
His wrath undoes the wicked."

Apparently there is also a version that takes a form as an oath made when squires become knights or when someone is
being sworn into office, such as when Lord Osric is sworn in as the King's chief advisor. Here is the oath:

"I, (name), choose the Old Code as my own. I am hereby sworn to valour, to speak only the truth, to use arms to defend the
helpless, to use might to uphold the weak. My heart knows only virtue. My wrath will undo the wicked."
