1. (a) Describe with a neat sketch the working principles of Magneto-ignition system.
(b) What are the advantages and limitations of battery ignition system over
Magneto-ignition system. [8+8]

2. An air standard dual cycle has compression ratio of 16, and compression begins
at 1 bar, 50 0 C. The maximum pressure is 70 bar. The heat transferred to air at
constant pressure is equal to that of constant volume. Estimate:

(a) The pressures and temperatures at the cardinal points of the cycle
(b) The cycle efficiency and
(c) The m.e.p of the cycle, Cv = 0.718 KJ/Kg K, Cp = 1.005 KJ/Kg K. [16]

3. (a) Explain the working principle of gas turbine along with p-v and T-s diagrams.
(b) Describe the differences between closed cycle gas turbine and open cycle gas
turbine. [8+8]
