DAILY LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS VI-NAALIBTAK & VI-NATUDYO

I. OBJECTIVE
A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of the four fundamental operations involving fractions
and decimals
B. Performance Standard
The learner is able to apply the four fundamental operations involving fractions and decimals in
mathematical problems and real – life situations.
C. Learning Competency
Divides decimals up to 4 decimal places by 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001 (M6NS-Ih-116.5)

II. CONTENT/SUBJECT MATTER: Dividing Decimals by 0.1, 0.01, or 0.001

References: Lesson Guides in Elementary Mathematics 6, pp.127-130
Materials: flashcards, activity sheets, power point presentation
III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary Activities

1. Drill: Mental Computation –

a) Group the class into groups of 4 members.

b) The teacher flashes cards like:

35.6/10= 35.6/100= 35.6/1000 = 41.2/10 =

== = =

41.2/100= 41.2/1000
= =

c) Before the teacher flashes the card, she must give instructions like:

All number 4s from each group will answer the problem.

d) The first to give the correct answer wins.

e) Repeat the process for other players.

f) The group with the most number of correct answer wins.

2. Review
Recall the steps in dividing decimals/mixed decimals up to 2 decimal places.

3. Motivation
Who among you went to the market last Sunday? What are the things did you buy?
B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation

Tina and Vicky went to the market to buy 5.75 kilos of ground meat. When they came home,
they divided the whole meat into one-tenths and put it in a plastic bags for future use. How many bags
of meat were there?

If you were Tina and Vicky, will you divide it again into one-hundredths? If yes, how many bags
of meat do you think you can make?

What kind of girls are Tina and Vicky?

Do you also save for the future? How?
Where did Tina and Vicky go? What did they buy? What food group does meat belongs?
What does meat give us? How much meat shall we consume/eat for one meal?

What is the answer in situation a? b?

What is the pattern in dividing by 0.1, 0.01, or 0.001? Explain.

2. Performing Other Activities

Divide the class into 5 groups and give them the following problems on a strip
of paper.
Let them assign a reporter for each group.
Tell if the following statements is true or false. Defend your answer.
1. The quotient of 16.8 ÷ .01 is 1680.
2. If you divide 98.74 by .001 you get the quotient of 9874.
3. The quotient you get in dividing 0.358 by 0.1 is 35.8.
. 4. 148 is the quotient when you divide 1.48 ÷ 0.01.
5. The result of dividing 6.06 by 0.1 is 60.6.

. 3. Processing the Activities

How did you find the activity? What were you able to
find out?
Discuss with the pupils the steps in dividing decimals up
to 4 decimal places by 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001.
Say: When dividing by 0.1, 0.01, 0.001…, move the
decimal point to the right as many times as the number
of decimal places of the number in the dividend.
4. Reinforcing the concept and skill

Perform mentally.

1) 651 ÷ 0.1=________ 3) 85.72 ÷ 0.001=__________

2) 6. 298 ÷ 0.01=________ 4) .89 ÷ 0.01=_________

5. Generalization

How do you divide decimals up to 4 decimal places by 0.1, 0.01, or 0.001?

6. Application

Give the quotient orally.

1) 8.39 ÷ 0.01= N 5) 32.8 ÷ 0.01= 10) 9.3738 ÷ 0.001=

2) 125. 85 ÷ 0.001= N V. ASSIGNMENT

3) 6.95 ÷ 0.01= N Find the quotient of the following decimals and

solve for N.
4) 85.32 ÷ 0.1= N
1) 42.84 ÷ 0.01 = N 4) 649.8 ÷ 0.1 = N
5) 6.45 ÷ 0.001=
2) 40.32 ÷ 0.001 =N 5) 968.25 ÷ 0.001=N

3) 66.75 ÷ 0.01 = N
