ESL / EFL RESOURCES Subject-Verb Agreement Tic-Tac-Toe

Activity Type Introduction


Matching, writing, In this fun teaching activity, students play games of Tic-Tac-Toe
reading and by completing present simple sentences with the correct subject-
pronunciation activity, verb agreement and pronouncing verb forms correctly.

Procedure
Language Focus Before you begin, review the spelling and pronunciation of third-
person singular verb forms with the class.
Subject-verb agreement
Next, divide the students into pairs. Give each pair a copy of the

worksheet.
Third-person singular Tell the students that they are going to play two games of Tic-
verb forms Tac-Toe by completing present simple sentences with the correct
subject-verb agreement and pronouncing verb forms correctly.
Explain that in order to win the students need to get three squares
