CASE-1/CASE-2 SCAFFOLDING

1. GENERAL

The following details and schedule refer to Attachment-2, item 2.4 and define the responsibilities for
the supply, erection, maintenance and dismantling of scaffolding and similar on the Project.

2. CASE-1 SCAFFOLDING

1) In this Case, each Subcontractor shall be responsible for the provision and submission of the
design, and necessary drawings and specifications for scaffolding. Respective Subcontractors
shall supply, erect, maintain and dismantle all scaffolding, ancillary ramps, platforms and
ladders, access ways, safety nets (except as stated below), barriers, warning signs and lights and
all associated scaffolding requirements necessary for the performance of their work.

2) The supply, installation, maintenance and removal of ladders and walkways alongside the pipe
racks/pipe bridges, and all Full board under all pipe racks/pipe bridges shall be the sole
responsibility of the Subcontractor for Insulation Work. They shall be installed on instruction by
Chiyoda and shall remain in position until completion of all work in connection with the piping
on pipe racks/pipe bridges (including Painting and Insulation), unless otherwise instructed by
Chiyoda.

3) The supply, installation, maintenance and removal of common scaffolding (i.e., scaffolding
commonly used by two or more Subcontractors and not defined elsewhere) for self-standing
towers, vessels and packaged equipment that is to be insulated shall be the sole responsibility of
the Subcontractor for Insulation Work. The supply, installation, maintenance and removal of
scaffolding around equipment, structures and facilities that are to be painted, except for pipe
racks/pipe bridges, shall be the sole responsibility of the Subcontractor for Painting Work.

All such scaffolding shall be installed on instruction by Chiyoda and shall remain in position
until completion of all dependent work (including Painting and Insulation), unless otherwise
instructed by Chiyoda.

4) The Subcontractor shall provide a safe, suitable scaffolding system to ensure his work is
performed safely and efficiently.

5) SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT and the Subcontractor shall be required to clearly demonstrate his
ability to meet Chiyoda’s requirements by use of his own:

a) Work procedures

b) Quality Control procedures

c) Safety procedures

d) Fully detailed safety records from similar previous Projects

e) Professional Engineer (P.E.) or similar approval of the Subcontractor’s Detailed design


specifications and procedures

6) Each Subcontractor shall be responsible for the minor modifications of scaffolding necessary for
their respective work. However, when the scaffolding is supplied and erected by another
Subcontractor, such minor modification shall be performed by the Subcontractor who erected the
scaffolding.

3. CASE-2 SCAFFOLDING

1) GENERAL

The following schedule refers to Attachment-2, item 2.4 and is applicable only in the event of
CASE-2, i.e. the utilization of a Scaffolding Subcontractor on the Project.

Notes

1) Generally, Scaffolding provided for Piping Installation, Insulation and Painting Work shall be
used for Electrical and Instrument Installation Work, where suitable and applicable. Otherwise,
separate Scaffolding shall be provided by each Subcontractor for Electrical and Instrument
Installation Work where required.

General Note

Each Subcontractor shall be responsible for minor modifications necessary to scaffolding. However,
when this scaffolding is supplied and erected by the Scaffolding Subcontractor, such minor
modification shall be performed by the Scaffolding Subcontractor.
