Dear Mr. Keith Kuwik and Dr. Geoff Hicks:

I am completing my third year as a special education teacher at Ledgeview Elementary in

Clarence, NY. Ever since I was young I have had a passion for teaching and helping all children.
Although I have spent the last three years as a special education teacher, my professional goal is to
be a general education teacher. I am very interested in the Elementary Probationary positions in
the Clarence Central School District. I look forward to the opportunity to achieve my professional
goal in a wonderful school community.

With my three years of teaching experience in inclusive education classrooms, I have

become a well-rounded expert at engaging students via multi-modal instruction. Being in an
inclusionary setting, I have been a part of general education and special education classrooms
where I have worked directly with the state-wide curriculum and assessment protocols. As a
special educator, I felt it was a top priority to first become an expert on the general education
curriculum and determine where differentiation needed to be implemented at all elementary grade
levels to best meet the needs of my students. I am well qualified at identifying students’ needs and
adjusting instruction to maximize student growth. From my experiences and having worked with
five different mastery level teachers, I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge, resources
and different techniques while serving as a resource for many general education teachers on how to
best meet the needs of a diverse student population. Through these experiences, I have learned
much to apply to my classroom that have benefited through teamwork and collaboration. I would
love the opportunity to take all that I have learned and apply it to my own classroom. I believe these
skills, combined with my ability to effectively address students’ individual needs make me an ideal
candidate for your position. I would be grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the general
education teachers in the Clarence School District to create the best engaging learning environment
for students.

I am an extremely dedicated teacher who will never give up on any student. I have the drive,
enthusiasm, and commitment that your school district desires in filling this teaching position. My
goal is to combine my distinctive teaching experiences with compassion, enthusiasm and
commitment to my local area school district to support students and the community. I am
confident these qualities reflect the philosophy and values that align with your district. I plan to
continue to make a significant positive contribution to the Clarence School District and the lives of
my students. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my qualifications and
credentials. I am confident that I would be a valuable addition to the general education team. Thank
you in advance for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you in the
near future.

Sincerely,
Abigail Gordon
