Dear HOD

Given the current circumstances, in the previous days my company, Ln technologies, benefited from
your health services for the screening of my employees for COVID-19. The results came out a day
before and unfortunately most of our employees were tested positive.

Our company is already strictly following all the SOPs for those who are working in the office
premises while most of the staff is still working from home to avoid social interaction. We are afraid
that results of these tests might create a haphazard situation in the company and this vulnerability
of our employees might damage our company’s reputation, raising a lot of questions on our
company safety measures.

I want you to update us regarding the rules and regulations of data protection of your client and a
surety that none of your workers will leak this information.

We as a company would be more that grateful of you to keep this information private and
confidential to save us and our employees from any kind of embarrassment.

Sincerely,

MEMORANDUM

TO: All Employees

FROM: HOD Health and Safety
DATE: 5-7-2020
SUBJECT: Call for test running for COVID-19

Considering that the physical well-being of employees have a significant impact on the efficiency
and effectiveness of work performed, that’s why in the current circumstances when the pandemic is
spreading at a higher speed, our company has taken a major decision and set up health department
with modified rules for; all officials and employees occupying permanent, temporary and co-
terminus positions rendering services on full-time and have been employed for at least one year
need to follow.

As this disease effect those with weekend immunity or someone with an underlying health
condition, for that as a precautionary measure, all of our employees are required to undergo
COVID-19 and drug screening test. Thus for the safety for our employees and company it is now
necessary for every employee to personally inform HR department about their health issues
through Email with their test reports attached and all the other medical credentials.
Those employees having any kind of addiction, which has a higher risk of leading one’s health
condition towards worst, are also needed to report HR department through email, informing about
type and duration of addiction.

These decisions are taken for the benefit for all of us. We all are in this together, please let me know
if you have any questions. In the meantime, I'd appreciate your cooperation.
Q.5. Please rephrase the below-given paragraph in Business English.

There are bad times for our business and we have big challenges ahead because the global supply
chain has been affected due to the outbreak of coronavirus in a short time.
We export goods but our business is nothing without imported goods. We have to rely on the
supply of material to make goods before we can export them.
We can't pay our labour as we can't export goods. We send most of our goods through the air to
different countries. In order to stand on our feet we need supply without any stop so that we can
link the market place, production/manufacturing/assembling, distribution, and acquiring of
material to provide good service to customers at low cost.
The government is not providing any help to us and we think that our business will close down
soon. We will also get rid of our workers because we are not making any money to pay them.
Some of the businesses are still running but we cannot run like them because they are better than
us.
Only those businesses can stay open during these hard times which have no competition. Such
businesses have no replacement and they are matchless. They are better than others because
they have good planning, suppliers, and customers.

(Instructions: Kindly use business English to rephrase the paragraph)

Due to the COVID-19 break out trade businesses are undergoing recessions as supply chains and
manufacturing operations have been disrupted globally.
In a trading business when there is a supply-chain disruption, manufacturing will stop quickly because
of a lack of parts and raw material available on hand.
We can't pay our labour export goods. Our exports are usually shipped through air ways. In order to
bounce back we need raw material without any delay so that we can continue the supply chain, to
provide good service to customers at budget.
The government is not providing any help to us and we think that we’ll cease trading. We will also
layoff our employees because we are not generating any profit to pay their wages. Some of the
businesses are still in execution but we cannot function like them because they are a cut above us.
Only monopolistic businesses can survive through these hard times as they have no competition
and are unrivalled. Because of their efficient market penetration they are step ahead of others.
