Surah Luqman 31:25 And thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, Who is it that has created the
heavens and the earth? - they will surely answer, God. Say: [Then you ought to know that] all praise is
due to God!- for most of them do not know [what this implies].
Connecting Al-Hamd with Rabb-ul Alameen allows the reciter to understand who it is exactly to whom
one is sending Hamd, ie. it is not a praise in a vacuum void of acknowledging the recipient of all praise.
It also negates any possibility of one to feel arrogant through praising God, as one is humbled in the
presence of a Lord that is not simply a “personal god,” but rather the Absolute Lord of all Existences.
The question that needs to be asked: “How can one’s self centered ego live in this universal recognition
and diffusion?”
Rabb- Raghib (Arab Lexicologist): signifies “the fostering of a thing in such a manner as to make it
attain one condition after another until its goal of completion.”
According to the Holy Qur’an, the orderly arrangement takes place by means of Taqdir and Hidayat
87:3 and who determines the nature [of all that exists], and thereupon guides it [towards its
fulfillment],

Surah A’raaf 7:54 Verily, your Sustainer is God, who has created the heavens and the earth in six
periods, and is established on the throne of His almightiness. He covers the day with the night in swift
pursuit, with the sun and the moon and the stars subservient to His command: oh, verily, His is all
creation and all command. Hallowed is God, the Sustainer of all the worlds!

Surah Yunus 10:3 Verily, your Sustainer is God, who has created the heavens and the earth in six
aeons, and is established on the throne of His almightiness, governing all that exists. There is none that
could intercede with Him unless He grants leave therefore. Thus is God, your Sustainer: worship,
therefore, Him [alone]: will you not, then, keep this in mind?

Surah Al-A'raf 7:172 And whenever thy Sustainer brings forth their offspring from the loins of the
children of Adam, He [thus] calls upon them to bear witness about themselves: "Am I not your
Sustainer?" - to which they answer: "Yea, indeed, we do bear witness thereto!" [Of this We remind
you,] lest you say on the Day of Resurrection, "Verily, we were unaware of this";
1. Not to do any injustice to any existence because it is under the guardianship of the same
Rabb as we are
2. The title of Rabb (as the Planner, Determiner, Executor, etc) humbles the recitor from his
arrogance on one hand, while lifting the spirits of the other who may be experiencing
hardships.
Al-‘Alameen:

2. Metaphysical (Malakut)
3. Spiritual (Jabaroot)
4. Divine (Lahut)
