• After viewing the given material, the members of the group are
required to retell the story.
• Each member shall be limited to 3 sentences and they need to
observe connection of events.
• One of the members shall record the storytelling for the class
presentation.
After presenting all their output, the teacher will ask the following
questions:
1.How did you find the activity?
2.What factors help the group to complete the retelling of the
story?
The teacher will explain that correct connection of events is
important for a material to be understood.
Goal Orientation:
The teacher will share the objectives of the lesson and the
different means of achieving them.
B. Development • The teacher will group the class into three (3) groups.
( 1 day) • Learners will be asked to watch the video about Daedalus
and Icarus.
• After watching, each group will be given a specific task to
accomplish.
Group 1 : Character Check
✓ Choose one character from the material that you
are
about to watch.
✓ Describe your character using the graphic
organizer below.
✓ Present your characterization to your group
members and to the class.
Group 2: Time Machine
✓ Choose your partner and try to live with
Daedelus and Icarus by reading their story.
✓ After reading, list down some words that may
describe the place and time of the story.
✓ Share your lists to your partner and try to look
for the commonalities and differences of your
answers.
✓ Justify those answers which are not in his/her
list by explaining its significance to the story.
Group 3: Four Pics …One Story
✓ Using just four pictures, write down the events of
the story which you believe are important.
✓ Check the arrangement of the pictures according
to the sequence of the story.
✓ Choose a representative from your group who
will present your output.
Concept Presentation:
• After the presentation, the teacher will ask the students to
share their insights and realization about the given activity.
• The teacher will discuss the different elements of a short
story such as the characters, setting and plot.
• Learners will be asked to define and describe each
element.
• The teachers will make follow up questions focusing on the
importance of unity among the elements of the story in
understanding the purpose of the writer.
• The teacher will ask the class to cite a story whose
purpose of the writer is achieved because of the story’s
elements.
C. Engagement Pen’s Mind
( 2 days) • The teacher will ask the students to watch an episode of
“Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho which is entitled “ Fallen
COVID-19 Heroes”

• The learners will be asked to the choose one story from the
viewed episode and share with the class its impact to their
life especially in this new normal.
• The teacher will ask the learners’ opinion on whether this
episode help them to make some realizations.
• Learners will be given the opportunity to recognize the
writer’s purpose in doing the said episode.
• The teacher will throw some follow up questions to make
the learners realize that this writer’s purpose can be
successfully conveyed to the viewers if the elements of the
story observe unity.
Assesors’ Notebook
• Learners will be grouped into five (5). They will choose their
leader and their secretary.
• The teacher will present five local and foreign personalities
on the screen. Each group will be tasked to write a short
story about the person.

• The teacher will allow the students to search in the internet
to get some information about the personality assigned to
the group.
• After 20 minutes, each group shall present their story. While
listening to the presentation, the other groups are tasked to
determine the purpose of the story and appraise on whether
the group is able to achieve it.
• Each learner will be writing the information in their
Assessor’s notebook.
